Best locking mechanism PERIOD
I bought this knife mostly because of the blade retention system, it is not a ridiculous light-duty clasp like on some el-cheapo knives, it is a heavy duty slide mechanism. My secound reason for buying the knife was of couse the forever warranty. This knife works extremely well for scoring sheetrock, because it has extra blades in the handle for a quick replacement blade without having to go digging in your tool box. The BEST general purpose utility knife I have ever owned. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a quality utility knife. I also highly recommend Irwin bi-metal blades, they easily cut 2x more sheetrock than standard "heavy-duty" blades.

Not for everyone
This is an interesting tool that will attract certain customers. With this excellent utility knife, there are some trade-offs. It is up to you to decide if the benefits are right for you. Pros: Easy to change blades, very secure blade that will not fall out under heavy cutting load, extra blade storage in handle that does not require a screwdriver to access Cons: Price is much more than other heavy duty utility knifes, overall length, width, weight and bulk are too much for your pocket -- thus requiring a belt holster, dangerous folding design threatens to cut your fingers when closing, exposed blade that does not quickly retract when you have completed a cutting task, the blade compartment switch on the side can be easily tripped when pulling this out of your pocket, ejecting the blades when you least expect it to happen I could easily point out numerous other utility knives that cost allot less, offer a screw that keeps the blades from accidentally ejecting when under heavy use. The fact that this is not a retractable raises safety concern for having an exposed blade that requires risking injury closing this unit. If you do allot of cutting on a daily basis, you have to consider all of the pros and cons of this excellent tool to see if it meets your intended needs.

Worth it!

Changing blades is a snap - literally. And having the spares onboard is great. Knife is well made and has a nice solid feel to it. Have used it a couple months now and still really like it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Love This Knife

Haven't used this knife much yet, but so far I like the heavy-duty build so it should last awhile. The blade-changing system is easy and the blade storage is very convenient. This type of knife beats the older, usual style of utility knife hands down.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

This is the safest and best utility knife on the market

I give this as gifts to everyone. They are so much better than the old fashioned utility knife that moved the blade up and down. It is a jack knife so there is no forgetting to put the blade down. You can buy it with a case that goes on your belt. This is a great gift for any do-it-yourselfer or carpenter on your gift list!

Just a really cool knife!

The rubber, thumb grip is just one of my favorite aspects of the knife.  The color, duribility and spare razor slide just adds to the overall coolness of this craftsman piece.  I like brown leather, so for me the case I got was an added bonus.  The case is not to everyones taste but the most important part of this product is the knife itself.  The Knife is built solid and has a very thick handle which I like and makes for easier, safer, and more accurate cuts. BUY THIS KNIFE!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Best knift I've ever had

You simply can't beat the price for this knife. You get the knife, 5 extra blades (6 blades total), and a carrying case for $20. The knife fits comfortably in your hand and opens very easily and "locks" open. With the flick of a switch right on the handle a tray comes out that stores the extra blades. Blade changing is as easy as 1, 2, 3. And the blade is "locked" into the front of the knife. Finally it's a Craftsman meaning if it ever malfunctions just return to Sears and get a new one for free. I use mine at work and it's great!
