Missed Opportunity
This is a great tool, popularly priced, and extremely well-made. Comparable 3/8" tools (that are nearly identical) by Klein and Lisle sell for at least ten dollars more than this massive 1/2" drive Craftsman piece. But Sears/Craftsman has a problem with packaging and description; the packaging is a flimsy blister pack, instead of a blow-molded case with snaps (which a solid item like this requires) and the description and instructions are extremely brief and poorly written. For example, nowhere on the packaging is it mentioned that the tool is reversible, and capable of tightening as well as loosening. An important selling point that is not ascertainable until one looks at the tool itself. A missed opportunity to have a magnificent, rather than a great product.

Hand Impact Driver Actuates too slow
I have a cheapy 3/8ths driver that you have to beat the heck out of before it starts it's twisting function. I tossed it for a better K-D one. I find this 1/2 drive Sears tool is the same. Too much money for a tool that doesn't react until you've driven the Bolt, the Impact tool and the hammer through whatever you were working on. K-d or Lisle...they know how to make these tools to work correctly

A must-have tool

Quality American made product. Does what it says. I got screws off a 60 year old tractor brake drum with this using a drag link bit. I do wish it came in a small case; I;m afraid of losing the bits. I wish I'd bought it years ago. This would be a good present for the guy who has almost everything.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

good things about impact driver

the impact driver is a good tool you only have to use very little .but when they are needed they can save an hour of time .You just put it on the screw head and hit it with a hammer, usually the screw will start to turn preventing you from drilling the screw out saving a lot of time.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Cheap insurance

An impact driver is a must have tool for working on vintage motorcycles. I've had one since I was a kid and own several now...home, shop, and to go box. I use one of these for ALL teardown including new stuff. I was buying other tools and noticed this one is still made in USA so I bought it as a back up.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

generally good, still some room for improvement

I bought this manual impact driver for brake work. Used it to loose the bolts on rotor disc. work perfectly. The bolts came off easily after several whacks with rubber mallet. This tool is heavy, sturdy, well build. I know some other impact driver from different manufacturers also work fine. But I still choose craftsman for quality and warranty. The price is "okay". The only drawback is this tool doesn't come with a box. I can imagine that a simple plastic box can make the storage much more easier since there are small parts which can be easily lost. Now I put this tools in a plastic bag. Not a big problem. Just something I'd like craftsman to improve.

Better to have one

Bought it to solve a problem that the electrical impact driver can not do. It served the purpose well. This is not the tool that you will use everyday, but better to have one at hand when needed.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Game changer

I purchase this tool for one sole purpose, and that was to knock out the stubborn phillips screw Honda foolishly used to bolt the front rotors on in certain models. If anyone has ever needed to remove their rotors on these said cars, they know what I?m talking about. This impact screwdriver worked without skipping a beat; place the correct size bit on, line it up with the screw, give the end a few whacks with a hammer and watch the magic happen. I could not be happier with the purchase which saved me a ton on needing to take the car to the shop. The craftsmanship on this impact screwdriver is top-notch. Feels very solid and appears it will last forever. I?ve had a few impact screwdrivers from other vendors before and they all felt very cheap and poorly put together, not this Craftsman impact screwdriver. I would definitely recommend this to anybody.

Gets the job done. USA made.

I like shiny things, so sometimes its hard to love the ugly, less glamourous impact grade tools. But this thing gets the job done. My dad has had one for years, and my new one seems to be made to the same high standards. If you ever "need" one of these to remove a fastener, then you will realize no tool box is complete without one, there is no substitute. USA MADE.

Driver works well and is easy to use.

LIne it up, give it a whack and bam, screw is loose. Compact design helps to get in tighter places. Recommended for those who strip screws.
