I use this light in my garage and it works really well. The retractable reel works really well and easy to wind up after use. Well made and durable too. Would buy again. Use for work in and around garage where more light is needed. The hook on the end will attach inside your car hood too. Good value for the money.

Very pleased, a very good value. The retractable cord works great and light portion has a plug in for additional tools etc.

It's Incandescent, so that means I don't worry if i drop it, spill liquid on it, it gets by something, etc., easy to replace the bulb since they are a dime a dozen. I can pull this thing all around my patio to do my projects in the waning light AND hook a power tool up to it, light but extension cord incognito.

Just what I was looking for. Great product and was easy to mount from my roof. Another great craftsman product.

This light is very cheap and it makes due for the average shade tree auto mechanic or the weekend warrior. The 20 foot chord stretches to just about anywhere I need it to from where I mounted it in my garage. The light is bright and its easy to replace the bulbs because you can find them anywhere and are pretty cheap. Any light like this is going to be a little hard to maneuver when your under a car and in those hard to reach places, but this light does make it a little harder than those new LED lights. The larger bulb guard makes it dang near impossible to get in any tight place. This is the only thing that I really have to complain about with this light. If your needing a light, and don't have the cash for a better LED one, then by all means, grab it and go. But if you are wanting a more professional light then go with the LED style. Make sure to get one with a reel though, those things make life a whole lot easier. No chords to get tangled in or untangle to get your light.

Traditional mechanic's drop lihjy with AC outlet in handle. Performed well until plastic attachment eye broke after cord was jerked. Now I have a spolled lamp with no way of attaching toi anything except the workbench surface. If it had a sturdy metal eye it would receive 5 stars.

I've had this light for about 10 years, and use it quite a bit. The spring needs a little help pulling the light all the way up - it won't lift the light off the floor, but if you hold the light up while it's recoiling, it will hold the light up in position. The cord does tend to get a bit stiff in cold weather, but this has never bothered me. I use this as an extension cord more often than a light. It would be nice if it had two outlets, but with a 6.2 amp circuit breaker, that may lead to more breaker tripping. I have used this to power lights, heaters, and even power tools. It will run a circular saw, but the breaker will trip if the wood is particularly wet or thick. The 20 foot cord can reach every corner of my 2 car garage (it's hanging in the middle). It is a bit short, however, for diagnosing cars in the driveway. It can stretch if the car is next to the garage door, but it really is a stretch. After 10 years, my house breaker began tripping while using this. I disassembled and found that inside the reel, the cord is bent over a sharp edge, and the edge had worn through the cord. While disassembling, the spring also broke. I am very tempted to buy the 30 foot 10 amp light, but for nearly twice the price, I don't see the justification. Yes, this light could be better, but the price is right. I'm replacing mine with another just like it. If I get the same 10 year life out of it, I'll be happy.

This reel light is worthless in my unheated garage up here in New England! The less-than-adequate return spring cannot retract the cord which unfortunately is insulated with a plastic-like covering (rather than the more pliable rubber.) This insulation becomes very brittle around freezing temps...and very difficult to flex. I have not had the opportunity to use this reel in the warmer temperatures of summer...when it may operate just fine. But if you plan to use a retractable ight reel where the temperatures are 30 dgrees and less, stay away from this unit!

Move C/B to handle insted of wire plug end. Add male plug end at bottom of light handle, remove the ill placed outlet on handle. The payout cord, could have 2 females facing oppist directions one to plug into bottom of handle of light, the other power tools or whatever. Then if someone wanted to use it as just a extension,,, they could ! If you don't do anything at all, Use fluoresent screw in (no filament) ! Or at lease thats what most people are using nowadays !!!!
