These wheels are trash. A simple, permenant fix would be a cogged metal ring that could be tapped into the recesses of either a new or stripped wheel. Done. And even cheaper than having more plastic shipped from China. If you want American built to last, don't shop Sears.
Rather than buying a new push mower, I purchased two new front wheels and first they are of higher quality than the originals and second they gave this mower like brand new life!
The metal insert on the wheel itself siezed up on the spindle of my lawnmower. I asked the store how I should get that piece of metal off my spindle to put on new wheel. They told me to use a blow torch! No matter what I did the metal would not come off. I finally had to remove the metal insert of the new wheel since the old metal insert and my spindle are married for life. Also the inside of the wheel has plastic cogs which match up to a metal gear with cogs. Which one do you think is going to win? Why not make the inside of the wheel metal to match the metal gear? The tread of the wheel is plastic which wears out in a season. Why not make this rubber. At $32.00 a set for front and $48.00 a set for rear, that is quite expensive and on top of that spark plug, filter and oil each year!

The plastic hub of these wheels breaks away from the outside plastic and the wheels wobble then fall off. Replacement from Sears did the same thing. These wheels should be a lott more durable for the cost to replace them. Cant find metal hub to fix them
I have a Craftsman Eagle-1 push mower that is around 8 years old or so. When getting it ready for the season a few weeks ago, I noticed there was MAJOR separation from the inside sidewall and the tread right along the edge. "No big deal, I'll get a new one". While the wheel IS the same size that I needed, I ran into trouble after it was on. The center of the wheel was just a little too long for the spindle, so when I started to move the mower, the nut on the end started to unscrew itself. Ended up returning and ordering the OEM part. Just be sure to check what will work
