I bought this tool for my fiance for his birthday. It works great and the price is awesome. He is very mechanically inclined so it is just what he needs for his little projects around the garage. I recomend this to anyone who likes to tinker around their garage for all their projects.
I bought this gun to replace a 30 year old Weller 8200 gun that quit working. When looking online, this soldering gun appeared to be modelled after the Weller and was half the price. So I bought it and picked it up at the store. The first thing I noticed was the switch felt cheap. Nothing like the Weller. I opened it up to look inside and found that the switch was nothing more than some exposed thin copper bars that would bend to touch each other when the button was pushed. I just love the Weller's solid, click-switch trigger so I modified this gun with the Weller trigger. It was not easy - took over an hour to remove the plastic that held the old trigger and modify the case to accept the Weller trigger. But now I am happy with it.

I bought this product several years ago to carry in my tool bag for field repairs and splices. Although the switch is cheaply made, this tool has served me well for over fifteen years now. The bulb finally burned out last week, but that has been the only problem so far. It is a great tool for the money.
