Just get one (or ask for one for your Birthday)

I have been using this accessory on my Ryobi BT3100 (the grand-daddy of the Craftsman saw) for over five years. The ability to adjust the rip fence in 1/64" increments (as marked -- 1/4 turn =1/64" inch - you can actually get even finer) is extremely handy, especially if you do adjust the rails for different sized work or have a sacrificial fence surface attached. When you adjust the rails, the scale goes with the rail, so you cannot depend on it without some fussing after an adjustment. Using this accessory and a ruler, or better, a machinist square, you can get your fence perfectly adjusted with little angst.

If you attach a router to the side table and an auxiliary surface to the rip fence, this adjuster will allow very fine control of rabbit depth. It will also aid in setting the fence to take a skim cut and so avoid tear-out or burning on tricky wood.
