I tried the voltage from my home powersuply, which should be 120 voltage, but this thing gives about 180v, tried a 1.5v battery, it reads about 2.0v. What a waste of time, get to return it.
I mainly use this for measuring voltage levels and it does that job very well. However, you do have to manually set the range for the voltage like 0..20 or whatever since it's not an autoranging device and it does require a 9V battery which are more expensive than using those AA type batteries.
This is a very basic DMM and does have some issues with its design. The meter does not have an auto-shutoff so if accidentally left on it will drain the 9V battery. VAC only has two ranges (200V, 600V) which limits its accuracy when measuring smaller AC voltages. The DMM does feature five VDC ranges from 0.2V to 600V. Current measurements are made with two ranges 0.2A and 10A for both AC and DC. The 0.2A range measurements are made with the meter leads in the same position as voltage measurements so if you forget to switch measurement modes after taking a current measurement you can easily pop the internal fuse or damage the meter. For 10A current measurements it is required that the meter lead positions be swapped but there is no warning chime if you switch to a voltage measurement mode and forget to swap the leads so again you can accidentally pop the internal 10A fuse or damage the meter. With all these issues in mind if you are in need of a cheap meter for basic measurements it will do the job but you have to be very aware of how you use it to prevent accidental damage to the meter.
I bought this meter several years ago, and it has served me well. I cracked the LCD treating it rough, but it still works fine. When it went on sale for Christmas, i bought 3 more as gifts.
Easy to use large numerical display cable leads are appropriate length Making meter use very flexible display stand conveniently built into back of case

Most functions work but the main function I wanted in this purchase is not reliable. The beep sound using the continuity tester is hit or miss. It sounds crackly at times, solid at times and sometimes does not come on at all - when it works. I tried using it to trace connections in a fluorescent fixture I was converting to LED. I had to press really hard against the fixture connectors to get a crackle or beep. I tried different leads with no change in function. It worked well enough to get the job done but I had to try several times to make sure I was making contact. I then tried it on some light bulbs to make sure they were still "good." No luck. All of the lights were good but this meter could not tell me so. No change on the display and no beep. I then tried on a pair of scissors. I got a solid beep with a lead separately touching each blade but no beep when the leads were less than 1/2 inch apart on the same blade. Planning to return it.
Had a ton of batteries laying with no idea if they were good or not. Those other battery testers that light up are terrible. This multimeter tells you how much juice is left.
Very easy to use multimeter. This will come in handy as I tackle a lot of new projects in my house. Great that the multimeter came so batteries as well, so it can be used out of box.
