I tried the voltage from my home powersuply, which should be 120 voltage, but this thing gives about 180v, tried a 1.5v battery, it reads about 2.0v. What a waste of time, get to return it.
This multimeter works great and has all the settings my old meter had and I am glad for that. The one thing is that I blew both fuses while checking amps on a solar panel (my mistake) and the .2 amp fuse is hard to find. I did locate information in the back of the owners manual with a phone number to order a fuse kit that will include the .2 amp fuse. It's a shame that sears stores do not stock fuses for this product, and no one has that small of a fuse. Having to order by phone or on line and waiting for delivery because of this tiny fuse seems silly. If it was not for this I would give it 5 stars.

Very high quality meter considering the price (especially when it is on sale!) the switch feels better than a cheaply made meter (harbor F.). A great feature is the continuity test (audible!). The rubber/silicon case has a kick stand at the back to put the meter upright. Overall very nice, entry-level meter. Get it when on sale!
This is an excellent multimeter. I have tried out all of the functions and they all seem to work well. I will agree with others that the Continuity is a bit sketchy. But, I am okay with that. I have read some of the negative reviews and I think those reviewers were overly harsh. This is a really great home multimeter. If you're a professional and your job depends on a multimeter, this obviously is not the choice for you. But, this will work for most everyone else out there. This does absolutely everything I need and it does it well. The size is fairly compact and the protective cover is nice. I do not find that the red cover gets in the way of the leads. It does take a 9-V (I am not sure why this is an issue for some, it isn't like 9-Vs are difficult to get) and it is covered by a 1-year warranty.
This meter works exactly as advertised in all ranges. It is conveniently sized and has a very tough and durable case. Even if you hook it up wrong it will still work. Battery life is great.
I am a nerd engineer that feels every room in the house needs a multimeter to diagnose electrical problems. This Craftsman multimeter is compact enough to fit in a drawer. The plastic case makes is resilient when dropped from atop a 5' ladder. A feature it lacks is an audible tone when checking continuity
cheap as chips (as we'd say at home). survived this past year with a few knocks. reasonably accurate - tested against a much better multimeter which i leave on my bench.
I purchased this multimeter a few weeks ago and have been very pleased thus far. For the money I think that it is quite solid. Thanks for the deal Sears !

I was a little hesitant to purchase after reading some of the reviews but went forward with it anyways, got home hoping all was well but wasn't after testing the meter. Everything functioned except Amp reading. It would be a good meter if it tested Amps, so basically wasting my gas to pick it up, then to return is four dollars gas, half of what the meters purchase price. So don't do it and heed to the negative reviews and save yourself the hassle and don't play roulette hoping you'll get a fully functional meter.
