I owned the original Nextec Multi-Tool and it worked great. My only complaints were the lsingle speed and the need to use a wrench to change the blades. The new model addressed these issues and I thought great, I'll get it. The problem is the quick release doesn't hold the blade tight enough. If any pressure is applied the blade stops moving entirely (while the shaft continues to move) making it impossible to cut anything harder than balsa wood.
I exchanged the tool thinking the one I had was defecftive but the replacement has the exact same problem.
The compared to the original, the shape is akward and it lacks a dust attachment. But, it's the inability to hold the blade solid that makes this tool useless. Stick to original (and make to keep the blade tight).

Have the original Nextec 12v multi-tool and love it. Used for past 2-3 years. Switched to the quick release version a week ago and quickly returned it for exchange. Wouldn't cut paper, let alone wood. Second tool no better than first. Whole tool vibrated and would not cut. Returned the second one, also. Have gone back to the original model. Cuts circles around the quick release model. Have three other Nextec 12v tools and all are top of the line. Had hight hopes for this latest, but not a chance of anything positive for it. Very disappointed.

I enjoyed using my new oscillating tool until the battery died. I just received a new electric oscillating tool for Christmas so I grabbed it to finish the job, and WOW the electric version worked much better than battery powered.

Have had my multi tool for 2 years. I love it when it works but have had to replace the battery a couple of times. Of course when this happens is always when I need to use it. I don't use it enough to have to replace the battery this often.

Had really high hopes for the Nextec. The quick release feature is nice but there is still a modicum of difficulty switching out blades, etc. However lacked the necessary power for heavy use. Used for light hobbies or crafts it should function fine.

I wish I would have had this tool many projects ago! My only issue is the battery keeps vibrating out. Put a shim in it to hold it in. Too lazy to take it back, but wish they would look at how the battery hooks in, with the amount of vibration it is actually eating the tabs away that hold the battery in.
