Good Scanner
I bought this a couple days ago for $199.00 as a club member. The software in this scan tool is exactly the same as the Actron CP9580A enhanced scanner and also OTC3111PRO. It's been upgraded to included more data stream and component locator etc. To learn exactly what this can do as I have to admit the advertisement and user manual is lacking but go to actron.com to get a better idea. It even says in the user manual to update the scanner go to www.actron.com/craftsman so I know it's the same program. It graphs the data and can include to PID's on one screen. The $329.00 list price may be a bit steep but for $199.00 what I paid it's a good unit. If you are looking for a true top of the line scanner complete with true bi-directional control then go pay $1000-$2000+ easy but for the DIY user's it's a great entry level unit. It fixed my PO446 Evap Code and code connect spat out the top three reported fixes, mine was #3 fuel tank MAP sensor that was faulty. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Might work for someone else
When I saw that this scan tool did ABS, I thought it might be worth having a cheap scanner (compared to something high end) like this as an option to use when the other scanner was being used. After calling tech support, I was pretty disappointed at how many vehicles this didn't cover. Even including domestic. When you ask tech support about updates and adding other vehicles such as BMW or Subaru, they will not give you a solid answer. And when I asked about using it with Diesel engines on my first call, they said yes it would. After I tried it, it showed a code for a high circuit air heater. I laughed because the truck has glow plugs, so that made me re-think this "having a secondary cheap scanner" if it reads false codes right out of the gate. A second call to tech support and the tech support ponied up and admitted it won't work with Diesel very well. At least not on any of our 7.3 engines. I'm not even looking to try it on our 6.0's or 6.4's. And if you ask tech support about updates to correct issues like this, again they won't give a solid answer. Bottom line is If you need to read simple general codes, this scan tool is a glorified version of everything else Craftsman already offers. If you think you are going to be reading graphs and really having a high end scanner, this is further from the truth. This tool has not impressed me in the least because I was mislead from the start that this would work with a specific engine. But at least when you call tech support, you speak to a live agent in California so there is a plus. I would like to point out that A.) they tried making this scanner in the USA and B) I have no doubt that it probably would work alright for DIY'er with a typical domestic made sedan. If they were honest and gave an expanded list of vehicles that it would FULLY work with on a website, I would have given it 3 stars. Unless I could use it on a vehicle it is compatible with, there is no way I could give it anything more. I do believe the company that makes this scanner also makes Genesis scanners. I'm not saying Genesis is bad, but it wouldn't be my first choice by a long shot.

Excellent scanner

Works as advertised and has the appropriate up grades for plug and play operation. Allows the technician to save time on diagnosis and repairs on OBD2 vehicles.

False advertising at best, fraud at worst

The other reviews are spot on, and I wish I had read them before purchasing. This is primarily for older vehicles and the website listed in the manual to procure the free software has no software at all. Downloads are "Coming Soon". To me, this is a clear case of fraud and I will be contacting the store for a return, and if they will not take it back, then I'm contacting the NYS AG's office to investigate their practices. LAST product I will ever buy from Sears.

Missing manual(s) Software (if any)? Purchased On-Line

I purchased this tool to add to my collection, and to diagnose problems with my Hyundai. It currently FAILS TO CONNECT to my 2000 Hyundai Elantra. (works on other vehicles, though) It also arrived with no manual or software of any kind. The package arrived with just the Scan-tool and computer USB cord, inside a black cloth case.

DIY Scan Tool

This is by far one of the best DIY Scanners that I have used. I would compair it to the snap on Brick the I have been using for years. The only difference that the two have is the craftsman does not require cartridges like the Brick. But it also does not have vehicle specific codes. Also there is one major down side to the Craftsman scanner right now their webside/ program for the computer is not online yet.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

craftman scan tool #939853

I bought this item to work on my 2011 Ford edge, The ad said it would work on ABS,Airbags and codeconnect. What it doesn,t say is what years it will work on. After ordering it and going to go get it, the outside of the box says it will work on 2010 and older cars. The ad should be more in detail , so that you don,t order something to work on your vehicle, then find out that it will not do what you want it to do!!!!! So go to the store and Read the specs before you buy this scanner.
