      Use a pilot point bit
After reading the other reviews and looking at the tool in the store, I bought one and replaced the included drill bit with a 3/8" pilot point bit. Follow up with a 3/16" bit for the #6 screw hole. The included drill bit breaks off because there is so much wobble in the hardened guide that after the drill tip enters the wood, the wider part of the drill strikes the wood putting a severe side load on the tip which is captured in the hole it made. The thumb screw is pretty whimpy, so I used a 6 inch c-clamp.

Save your money and find better quality.

After about 6 holes drilled, the tip of the bit broke off and you can not buy a replacement, Also the aluminum housing shreds little chips of metal each use. Do Not Buy!

      Great to have

Perfect jig to keep in your tool box. I find it very easy to use and convenient size to keep with me in a tool bag for the occasional need to repair projects at the in-laws house.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      Pocket Hole Jig

I use this pocket hole jig as my mobile unit. There are times when it just isn't practical to bring the work piece to the workshop bench for drilling pocket holes. That's when I reach for this jig. I take this jig to the work piece, drill the pocket screw holes and get the job done quickly.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      WOOHOO!

This is used a lot. Cut out a lot of frustration and made tasks much easier. Anyone who does this kind of work for a job or a hobby should invest in one of these.

      Pocket Hole Jig

I got this from a friend who said he couldn't stand using it so, for that reason alone I'll give it two wrenches.  That said, I have to take one wrench away because of how this thing is built.

First and foremost, this jig is built in another country and it shows.  The price on this is falling everywhere for obvious reasons.

When I tried to use this on a piece of walnut the first thing I noticed was that the jig slipped off the work piece unless you really clamped down on it and then you mar the wood.  Fail.

I gave it to someone I don't like.

      Pocket Hole Jig

Drill bushing is not long enough, and the clearance between the drill bit and bushing is too large. And the unit is made of aluminum, so a little bit of it gets drilled away with each use. A burr starts in the hole which can transfer an imprint onto the clamped wood. I saw the exact same unit elsewhere, without the Craftsman name, but obviously from the same manufacturer in China. Not AT ALL what I expect from Craftsman. Very disappointng. I'm returning it ASAP.

Great quality product. Maybe a little overpriced.

The jig seems to be built to last forever. I feel it could have been priced a few bucks cheaper but at least I know I will never buy a new one.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      Good bit, marginal fixture.

From a functionality standpoint, you should know exactly what you're getting here and it does what it's supposed to. The bit appears to be pretty good quality for how much I've used it (garage shelving). However, the fixture is very soft aluminum and the bit will rip into it slightly for about the first 12-15 uses leaving the wood stained with aluminum filings. If you aren't fussy about your joints, then it doesn't matter, but I would use this quite a few times on some scrap pieces before you go using it on some #1 wood where the joint may be visible.

You can get the same quality bit and a better (and more universal) fixture for much cheaper by going with a Kreg bit kit *************. (It was what I was actually looking for when I came into Sears, but it was not there).
