Craftsman  Portable Job Vise

Great for working on small pieces...that's what my main use is.

I clamped boards to router and sand the face, the Job Vise held them securely while I worked. I'm happy with the tool

The first job vise I recivied was defective from the factory. I took it back to my local Sears store and they ordered me a new one. The new one works great and I'm looking foward to useing it on many upcoming projects.

Easy to set up, easy to move around, seems very sturdy

I'd had my eye on the Rockwell Jawhorse for years and just never bought it because I wasn't sure how much I'd use it and didn't want to spend $180 on one. When Craftsman came out with this one at a cheaper price, I was tempted but I still wasn't sure much I'd use it. When the sale price finally fell to $80 with a free extension arm, I had to pull the trigger and now my only regret is waiting so long. This vise is every bit as good as the Rockwell vise that my dad has in his shop and I use it constantly. Every single time I need to cut/grind/sand something, I throw it in the job vise. The operation is fool-proof and there's nothing to even assemble. It's fully assembled straight out of the box. Just unfold the legs and you're in business. If you've been looking at this (or the Rockwell version) and can find it on sale, do yourself a favor and just buy it. You'll love it just as much as I do.

I got this item on sale for a very good price. It is virtually identical to the Ridgid superclamp (which I also own), but with the Craftsman brand, and it also has an extension arm as bonus. It keeps whatever you put there with strong force and it does the job very well. The problem with mine was that the extension arm was not straight. The rails that keep the extension arm to the base was welded incorrectly and this caused a "curved" extension arm. I will try to replace the extension arm if possible if Sears is willing to do that. Otherwise, I will ask for a complete replacement. Other than that, it seems like it is impossible to find any parts for this product. I wanted couple of extra plastic clamp covers, but I was unable to find any parts for this item. Sears parts direct was also unable to find any parts. In case you need some parts in the future, you may be out of luck. And, if it matters for you, it is made in China.

Fantastic. Exceeded my expectations. The holding power of the Job Vise by Craftsman made working solo projects a breeze. It's also very easy to carry, set up, use and store. If your in need of a second pare of hands, but don't want the expense, then this is the tool for you

The Craftsman Job Vise is the ultimate companion to any workshop. Reverse the clamping arm for wider work, or use the extension arm for even projects. I have recently used the Craftsman job vise to hold down wood while drilling holes in it. A simple task was made even easier thanks the job vise securely holding the board while I drilling down into it. From shop, garage or even backyard projects, I recommend this job vise to any from homeowner to contractor.

Craftsmen IS THE best is by far the must have tools, Sears is always on top of the leading technology, and meets or exceeds the original and most times offer the original as a side by side comparison so i want to have one of this for my and for my father
