This is a nice ratchet - basically a Matco at a better price. This is also the last ratchet Sears sells that is still made in the USA. Get it while you can before these are farmed out to some low-cost country too...

Craftsman premium ratchets are hard to beat! The 84 tooth mechanism is smooth and the high tooth count is indispensable. Definitely recommend regularly lubricating the ratchet with teflon lube.
The Craftsman premium ratchet is the fines you will ever use. Made in the USA, looks awesome, feels so smooth. Its the cleanest and well made ratchet you will ever see. Well worth the money, lifetime warranty. USA! USA! USA!

Didn't even have a chance to use this pretty 1/4" drive. Got it home and started working the action and it locked up just messing around with it. As mentioned in a couple other reviews, if you slide the selector a little too far to the right or left it locks up. If yours has not ruined your wrenching session yet wait till it comes time to grease this p.o.s. you'll be surprised when you take it apart how very cheaply engineered it is. EPIC FAIL!! I've bought ratchets from the $1 bin at my local hardware store that would at least turn a few nuts before they gave up the ghost....PURE GARBAGE!! Shame on you Sears for having the nerve to even offer such a paperweight to the public consumer. Save yourself the headache and pass on these so called "premium" ratchets.
I have only had this ratchet for a couple of months now, but I love the smooth, fine ratcheting. There is a slight issue with the selector lever getting jammed to far to the right and locking the whole ratchet up. If this happens, just grab a 1/4 open end wrench and wiggle the square head back and forth while trying to move the lever. It will work in un-jamming it. Other than that, the quality of this tool is comparable to higher end brands. I also love the heavier weight to it and the thicker handle. Don't spend 150 dollars on a Snapon or Mac ratchet. Buy this one.
I review the 3/8" as well and out of the two the 1/4" is the only one that is worth having. Just like the 3/8" it doesn't have a release button but its size is a little bit more usable. Its not overly bulky like the 3/8". The price is nice but its still a tough sell b/w the premium with high tooth count and the Slim Profile. If I didn't have the Slim Profile I would reach for this 1st but currently I only use it if I'm in a situation were I can't get good movement to ratchet. Its a great upgrade over the freebie forged ratchets but you might do better finding a comfortable 1/4 with release from another brand or getting the Sim from craftsman. I think I saw a stubby version of this last month and that would be worth it to me.

I got this ratchet on sale for 34.99 it was a fantastic price for an American made ratchet with 84 teeth gear which is 4'more then snap on dual 80 ratchet .the ratchet is sealed to keep debri and contaminants from getting inside the mechanism .excelent feel in my hands as we'll !!highly recommend this ratchet !

After coupons and offers this ended up costing $15.57, but at full price it's still worth having, proper USA made tool, as good as anything from a truck, nice long handle, almost as big as a 3/8 ratchet, buy them while you can!
Excellent ratchet, great feel in the hand, awesome finish, has 84 teeth for very small swing arc's... you can not go wrong especially when they are on sale. Hope they keep making these in the USA.. Don't forget the 3/8 and 1/2 to complete the set
I am an industrial mechanic, which means that I can work in a lot of tight spaces. A ratchet with 84 teeth has a small swing to get the next bite, and that sounded great. I shelled out $50 for it on impulse. That was a little over a year ago, I have already exchanged one, and that one has now crapped out and also needs to be repaired/replaced. I have gone to my second Sears store today looking for that replacement, neither store had one, both offered me a rebuilt lesser priced ratchet both saying that was the best they could do. Not Happy!
