Product Description

Get Accuracy, Durability and Value with this 6 1/8" Jointer Planer

The Craftsman Professional 1 1/2 HP 6-1/8" jointer/planer is a precision tool designed for the serious carpenter or woodworker. The 46-inch total table length allows you to join extra-long boards smoothly and easily, while the machine itself is sturdy and well made. Setup is straightforward, with clear instructions and well-sorted parts, although an extra person or a hoist is necessary to place the table. Ample gibs and clear instructions result in near perfect joining every time.

The 6 1/8" jointer planer operates smoothly and quietly on any wood, producing a silky smooth surface, a square edge, and a beautiful join. You may choose it over your thickness planer, it works so quietly. The knives hold a good edge, and remove and install easily when needed. The dust collection port works perfectly with your shop vac. This machine is a great value for precision custom work you'll be proud to show.

Manufacture will not stand behind their product
One word of caution on any product manufactured by ORION International. Product codes beginning with 152.xxxxxxx. This company redesigned their product within a 5 year window and then stops making parts. Leaving you with a virtual BOAT anchor. I purchased one 6 years ago and now can not get the parts I need to fix my machine. The Trunnion setup is made of a very cheap pot metal and will brake under stress. Sears says to bad parts aren't available and ORION International will not respond to my emails. Sears better look at who they are doing business with as people like myself make future investments in tooling.

Good Jointer At Excellent Price

While purchasing several tools to set up shop at the beginning of this year, made a last minute decision to purchase the Craftsman 6 1/8 inch Professional Jointer over the 6 inch Jet.  I was able to catch it on sale, $150 off, which simply made it too tempting to not at least give it a try.  I'm very happy that I did.  It was easy to put together.  It definitely takes two people to lift, but was able to assemble on my own using a hydraulic engine lift.  The jointer is easy to operate and I've had no issues getting square and straight boards.  I was able to use the extra money I saved towards a band saw which was a double win for me.  A good sale tempted and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.  So far, this has been a solid, reliable tool.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Solid jointer

I am a licensed aircrft mechanic so you would not expect me to be reviewing woodworking tools.  The wood shop is an important part of contemprary aircaft maintenance.  I have designed and installed custom aircraft interiors and many of the customers wanted exotic wood paneling in their cabins.  This paneling must align perfectly and this jointer is indispensible in tackling precision cutom interior work. The Craftsman Professional Jointer does a tremendous job surfacing wood panels and preparing them for installation.

the best joiner there is i love it

there is a lot i can say for this joiner it makes it so much easier for the diyer to the pro's i use this joiner every time there is a job to be done the joiner gets the edges nice and straight and the top looking like the best wood in the world with the picnic table im doing now every piece of lumber goes thru it just remember when you look at your lumber always mark where the crown is that goes for any type of wood from 2x4 to 2x6 and to all plank type wood my perferance has always been 2x6 to me it has been a little stronger than the normal 2x4 but if you are a serious wood worker or a carpenter this is the joiner you need it will never let you down on the job or at home if you dont have this either save the money for it or if you can buy it now this is the one ....steve

Solid working machine

This jointer has been in heavy use for almost three years. I have had no problems with it all. Blade changes are tricky the first time but better once you get the hang of it.

Awesome Tool!

This is one of the most under appreciated tools in the shop. First off, this baby is heavy. You will ned help assembling it. The assembly directions are good and fairly easy to follow. Hardest thing is just trying to get everything square, but once that is done lookout. This jointer has a commercial duty motor which is also very quiet. With a 6.25" capacity, you also use this as a planer. Comes with a dust collection port ( highly recommended ) Jointer has a very nice kill/shut off switch which is easy to find & use. Once you start using this tool, it will soon become on of your favorites. Projects go together so much smother and easier. Sanding time is reduced & boards are now straighter?

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Jointer for the DIYer

I bought my Jointer online about 9 months ago. The day i got it took myself about 2.5 hours to put it together, the hardest part was mounting the motor. Just fallow the instructions and its really not that bad to do. Since that time I've used it on a regular bases, im talking about 2-3 times a week for the past 9 months never once has it giving me a problem although once you take the blades out the sharpen them its does take some time to get the blade back right. This tool if use correctly will do a pretty good job. First of all dont use this to plan all four sides, you'll never get a perfectly square piece of wood, get one side flat, and then get an actual planner and do the top side. then go back to do the sides. If you do that, you'll have yourself an almost perfect square piece of wood. Now Snipes this is an area that i found to be mitch match depending on the type of wood i was using and how sharpe my blades were. Freshly sharpened blames with softwoods would almost never snipe the harder would there would be little to lone, but the blades quickly dull so the snipes do come so make sure you leave yourself a good inch or so if your doing alot of wood at one time. Dust colloection system is ok, but could be alot better honestly, the way it is chips still go everywhere with or with out the vac hooked up, so i just decided to take the adoptor off and let it go everywhere. Overall its done me well so far. Oh one last thing, blades, the jointer has 3 blades, they sell them in packages of 2's, so what did was got 3 packs had 3 sets of blades so i could work longer with out sharpening blades all the time. If you plan on using it alot probley would be a good idea to get you a set or too, they dull really fast.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great job at reasonable cost.

This jointer does a great job. The only real problem I had was to get new knives from Sears. This machine was easy to build up and very easy to set the knives.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Nice jointer

I got this on clearance for $79 a year ago.  What were they thinking?  It was like having a license to steal.  This is a great tool.
