Sears stands by its products and warranties.

My sump went bad, fortunately, I was home.  I removed it.  Took it to my Sears Hardware in Lake Zurich, IL, told them it had failed.  The sales associate said to simply pick out another, stop by the check out and they would momentarily have me on my way.  No charge.  No hassle.

Craftsman Pro 1/2 HP Submersible Pump

Dedicated Craftsman person over 40 years changing my future purchasing. This pump is Great when it works. I have unfortunately have replaced (3) within 1 year. 1st Failure top motor cap came loose from assembly and burned up motor, 2nd had a float switch failure an the 3rd motor locked up. Looked up my paperwork all 3 were different lots and assembly dates. Currently i will be composing a letter to Sears Corporate and ask for a Full Refund. After my research I will be replacing with the Rigid 1 H.P. with battery backup all in one. The cost is considerably higher at $399.00 but consider that this model possesses battery backup built in. This of course makes connection and maintenance much easier being an all in one.

Good but there are better choices

I bought this in 2005. I used it for 5 years, was still working fine and replaced it with another to get more capacity. Note that HP is not the only factor, this will pump 3660 Gallons Per Hour (GPM) at a 5 foot head but a Zoeller M 137 1/2 HP will pump 5580 GPM at the same head. A plus is the tethered float which they don't recommend adjusting but by sliding the float wire through the holding bracket you can lengthen the float swing and make it go on less frequently. But note that within a year or so the screw holding the float bracket to the pump body rusted out and came off. I replaced it by drilling a hole into the plastic handle and screwing the bracket in that way. Disadvantage to the Zoellers and ones like it are the fixed vertical floats make them go on a lot, but you can buy other ones at the big internet dealers or stores that have more adjustable floats. I just yanked out my big Zoeller because the switch went from going on so much, put this one back in as my primary and another above it as a secondary in case this gets overwhelmed; hope it lasts. Also very strange is the 1 1/4" discharge where most large capacity sump pumps use 1 1/2, you usually use 1 1/2" PVC as your discharge so you have to use a reducer to convert; this also reduces the flow a bit.

NO LONGER LIFETIME WARRANTY!!!!!! 3 YEAR ONLY!!!!!!!!!

I have used these sumps for many years and have put them in over 12 different houses. To my surprise today when went to the store for a replacement, The new one is now a 3 yr. warranty and not lifetime. I realize that it costs money to replace these pumps but this warranty is why I purchased this pump. It was sold to me based on this warranty. It is a good pump but they do not last forever and I assume this is why the change in the warranty structure. DISSAPPOINTED.

Pumps have problems so Sears limits warranty

Purchased a pedestal sump pump from sears with a lifetime warranty. Pump failed about 2 years in. Took it back and they offered my money back since they no longer stocked the pump. So much for my lifetime warranty. After a little complaining I was told I could get a submersible pump that still had a lifetime warranty, which I did. Eight months later that pump fails (impeller locked). Go back to Sears and the replacement for the pump now only has a 3 yr warranty. I asked fror and was given a full refund. I'm very disappointed in the quality of the pumps and the fact that Sears solution is to decrease the warranty. I rate it as 2 star since Sears was fair and gave me back my money with only mild complaining. The pumps are actually only 1 star items. Very disappointed in the quality of stuff at Sears lately.

      Why the warranty change???

I have owned a couple of these pumps and they are great. They work very well for what I have set up. In fact I own 2 at a time. One in the sump and another just in case. I had to use the just in case the other day... Went to Sears to get a replacement and found that Sears changed the warranty from Lifetime to just three years... I have now wasted $165 on a backup pump that will be out of warranty before I put it in the hole. I will be looking for another place to take my business since all they seem to do these days is put out made in China anymore. I am afraid of what will happen to the boatload of Craftsman tools that I own. SO SAD! By the way Seats... The manufacturer and warranty length (change) IS a product feature... Why are you looking to block my Assessment of this product?

      1/2 HP Craftsman submersible pump

Easy to setup and the float works well. Only reason I did not give it a 5 star is that the flow volume is a little less than advertised.

Craftman Professional 1/2hp Stainless Steel Sump Pump

I purchased a Craftman professional Sump Pump about eight years ago. It was so reliable and durable until I bought another for the other sump. The hermetically sealed stainless steel construction reduces the potential corrossion. I would recommend it.

The only thing that I would add to the current design if possible is a thermal cutoff in the event that the pump runs dry.  Other than that it is the most reliable pump that I have purchsed.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
