Great saw for the money
I have owned this saw for around 3 years now. I was deciding between the Dewalt single bevel and this saw. I choose the Craftsman Professional. The saw was setup square right out of the box. The saw has a lot of power and makes crisp, clean cuts. For the money, you won't find a better dual bevel miter saw. I think I paid $289 for it so watch for sales. I bought a Dewalt fine tooth blade for trim work that seems to work great on it. The only thing I do not like about the saw is the laser. You have to get used to it because the cut is not right on the laser. I ended up taking the batteries out of it. I have used this saw on a lot of home projects and it always delivers good results.

craftsman professional 12 inch miter saw
Saw caused violent kickbacks due to electric brake forcing blade into wood upon release of trigger bending fence and destroying dust collection system. Plastic blade guard was destroyed by blade while cutting and doesnt retract all the way and jams when saw is fully lowered onto wood. Miter adjustment knob which allows u to swivel saw between 90 deg cuts and others broke unexpectidly and is currently replaced by vice grip. 1800 help phone number sticker on back of saw is invalid. Wood stop device black item shown on left of saw for repeated cuts with same mesurement doesnt lock into saw making it virtually useless and accuracy extremely questionable

Worked like a champ!!

I had been looking for a miter saw for some time and found a good deal in the store and pulled the trigger on this saw.  I have been very impressed with this saw.  It works great and makes quick work in all sorts of situations. Very well made and sturdy.  Even cut some extruded aluminum with ease.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman Professional 15 amp belt drive Miter saw

Great saw! Whether you're a pro or a DIY guy, this saw has everything you need to make things like crown moulding, cove base, small or large cabinet projects, bookcases, and more. It has belt drive, so it cuts like butter. It has a very wide upper fence, a feature one usually sees on much more spendy models. You can square the fence to the blade, and square the blade to the table. Again, features usually found on more expensive saws. There are pre-set adjustment blocks both left and right on the saw bevel, to give you 33.9 degrees for miter cuts on crown molding projects, and a handy guide on the table for width of same. Very handy. A 90 degree block to easily get you back to square. Swivel in, swivel out. It's that simple. A laser to let you see where you are going to cut. A port for attaching the saw to your in-house dust collector, or shop vac, and a bag if you don't have those in your shop. Simple one hand operation, and it comes with a roller guide, and some different clamping options, and all the tools you need to make adjustments, change the blade, and so forth. A saw well under priced for the value it gives you.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Dangerous saw

Shortly after the first few times I used this saw, I started having problems with the trigger. At times, the saw would not start or stop when it should. Most recently I was cutting wood for a home project and the saw got stuck in the ON position. I was able to click it a few times and release the switch until the next time I used the saw. It is not permanently stuck in the on position. Now any time I plug the saw in, it turns on. Although I have had the saw for three years, I do not have that many hours on it and it is now not safe to use. I may never buy a Sears power tool again.

Craftsman Pro 15 amp Miter Saw.

I took it out of the box with very little assembly and put up 420' of privacy fence. It cut through 4X4, 2X4, and the fence boards like butter. By far hands down best Miter saw I have owned and the price was even better.

Decent Compound Miter Saw especially if you get it on sale.

Decent power for making cuts. Easy to adjust. Clamp works great.

Not as much adjustments as other saws. You can not adjust the bevel at the 45 deg like other saws. You have to loosen all the screws on both side of fence since it's a single fence. Even then there is not much you can adjust it.

Should have a way of mounting the table extention from the side and not only from underneath. If you have the saw mounted on a board and you leave the table extention on it's hard to store since it stick out too far. Otherwise you always have to unmount it from your board in order to put on or take off the extention.

Laser is only useful inside. Outside, you can't even see it if the sun is out.

One major problem was the throat plate. When you set the bevel at 45 deg., the saw blade would hit the throat plate. Had to spend and hour filing down the opening to enlarge it so the blade would not hit the plate.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Saw

I've had this saw over four years now and am just finishing a large landscape structure.  This is my fourth major project with it including a couple of crown molding jobs, a kitchen re-model and now this landscape job.  These are all diy jobs.  This saw just gets it done.  I have a good stand that is an earlier version of the Craftsman 22338 stand that makes life easy.

This saw has been reliable and cuts almost anything accurately.  It is easy to set up your cuts and I love its versatility.  It can kick a little but once you know the saw it's not an issue and the laser is of questionable value as it shows to the left of the actual cut, but is nice for seeing your angles on for example this landscape job where they are simple angles but accuracy is needed so you don't have to cut twice.  Those 4X4X8's aren't light.

I am using the original blade and it is just about shot but isn't critical for this job and heck I've gotten four or so years out of it.  I might recommend getting another blade for crown molding jobs, but it did fine when new on the two jobs I did.

This is a tough saw at the diy level.  It's gotten some good reviews over the years comparing with 400 to 500 dollar DeWalt's and Bosch's.  Mine came square out of the box.  I've only had to adjust it once and check it before every job and it was easy to adjust.

If you need a dual bevel (crown moulding) and a 12 inch cut (greatly increases versatility) that is very helpful on this landscape job, this one is a good choice.  You can find it occasionally down around 290 bucks on sale and I got mine at 269.  At those kinds of prices you can't go wrong.

The craftsman miter saw was easy to assemble and easy to use.

The craftsman professional 15 amp compound miter saw works like a charm.  It is easy to use. I am pleased with the way it cuts.  The laser trac is not necessary but its there if you need it.  The price is reasonable and it is even better when you can get it free when you use your Sears credit card rewards points.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
