I spent the past weekend with this unit. I found I needed to get used to how to use it best. My 15 year old electric blower, still working, gives more velocity for releasing stuck damp leaves in turf. But I also discovered that this unit has more air volume for moving leaves along. So after many hours of full throttle work, I find it to be a good investment.
The 3-year warranty makes it sweeter.
The down side is that the included tubes are not sufficiently long for anyone 6' or taller.
Starting it is a snap.
What a waste of money. I bought this when it was on sale for 200, thinking I was getting a great deal. When I buy something labeled "Professional" I expect I'm getting something professional-grade. This thing did NOT have the power I was expecting. Hell, it wasn't much strong than the regular hand-held versions. It's good for clearing walkways and driveways, and any light loose bits you have on your lawn. Anything else you may as well forget it. If you have leaves hung up in tall grass, you're better off just raking them out. Acorns, sticks, pine needles, piles of leaves only a foot high? You'll be standing in one spot forever trying to move them.
And despite my diligence in maintanence (oil changes, filter, etc.) this thing failed in less than a year. I took it to the Sears Service Center and they told me it was "premature engine failure". Fortunately I was wise enough to have bought the 3-yr service plan and they replaced it for me at no charge. After a year, the second one failed as well. The replacement wasn't covered under any kind of warranty, so I have to junk it. Stupidly, I bought a third blower when I saw it was on sale again for 200. Sure enough, within another year that one failed as well. So I'm done with these blowers and Sears/Craftsman in general. INot to mention the quality is junk - the trigger is uncomfortable to use no matter how you adjust it, the blower pipe pieces start wiggling loose after a time and I found myself having to duct tape them together, and the unit doesn't lay flat on the ground with the tubes attached and I have to prop it up on my foot to add gas, and that's not even to mention how the backpack straps start ripping apart after a few months.
f you want a REAL blower you can't go cheap. I've been investigating higher-end Echo products and they seem to have the power I'm looking for. I will never again buy a Craftsman product. After all I've heard about them over the years, I was sorely disappointed. I also bought a brand-new mower a couple of years ago and it's been in the Sears shop at least five times already - once to have the engine short block replaced. Thankfully it was all at no cost to me since I again bought the extra warranty and service plan. Meanwhile I have a second, older Craftsman mower and a weedwhacker - both without any warranty - and they have yet to fail or disappoint me. So I don't know what's going on but Craftsman seems to be rapidly going downhill. Stay away.
This blower is easy to use and does a really good job. I especially like the back pack idea as it takes the weight off one arm. Also like the easy start of this one.

bought it nov 2012, used it small residential yard and went to use it again nov 2013 and would not start. Had it checked out and was advised it needs a new engine. Aside from not working more than 1 season there is no handle to hold machine when starting up.
This is an excellent blower. It works great and does a great job. I recommend this blower to anyone that needs a blower. I put the gas in it and on the 3rd pull it started up and ran perfect.
The leaf blower is very easy to put together which is always a plus, its lite weight and since it goes on the back does not feel heavier then carrying around a child around the age of 1. I have a huge hard and it makes it quicker because the vibration is not too bad
I purchased this item on Black Friday November 25th, 2011. I live in Northern Illinois so my plan was to start using this item the following spring 2012. I assembled the backpack blower in April of 2012 and started using it right away as I had to clean up my yard from winter debris and leaves that had been missed. I have always used the pre-mixed 40:1 fuel that is sold in a can. It worked decent right away. I proceeded to use the backpack blower on my 0.25 acre lot, sidewalk, and driveway throughout the summer of 2012. So roughly 12 times. I noticed each time that is slowly got weaker and weaker each time until finally in September of 2012 it wouldn't start. This was the beginning of the leave cleanup season and I had to take this blower in to Sears. Three weeks later I got it back and they stated they had to install a new "short block" in it. This worked for about 2 uses altogether. Less than a month later, in October of 2012, I brought this back to be repaired again. By this time I resorted to raking leaves by hand, as this thing could not be relied on. The item was out for 2 weeks this time and I was advised that the cost to repair it was higher than just replacing it. They agreed to an exchange. Sears would not honor my original Black Friday price upon exchange. They attempted to force me to pay the difference. I decided to wait until Black Friday 2012 to get my free replacement. I then had to drive 40 minutes to another Sears in Rockford, IL. I exchanged for the new blower on November 23rd, 2012, luckily for the same price I paid one year ago. In April of 2013 I assembled the blower and put the pre-mix 40:1 fuel in out of the can. Throughout this summer I have used this item roughly 14 times on my 0.25 acre lot, sidewalk, and driveway. Once again I noticed that the blower started to lose power eventually to the point where it wouldn't start on August 26th, 2012. It was sent out for repair and came back stating that it was cheaper to replace than to repair. At this point I was done with this piece of junk and wanted a full refund. Sears would NOT honor a refund as they track the original date of purchase all the way back to the beginning. So for me, it would be Black Friday 2011. My only choice was to receive my third exhcanged backpack blower in three weeks. I hope this one lasts, but we all can probably predict the outcome. This thing is not "Professional" in any way, shape, or form. The only good part about it being labeled that is that you have a 3 year warranty. Meaning, get ready to exchange or repair this thing many times. Overall I would never advised even my worst enemy to buy this product. There is proof through the 2 repairs and 3 replacements that this is junk.
I purchased the original one 2 1/2 years ago and it worked well. It had a starting problem and it was replaced under warranty. The replacement lasted two uses until it quit and wouldn't start. It was replaced with another one and it had the same problem. I now have the third one and am waiting to see if that one works more than once. If this one fails I will try to get another backpack model. This unit doesn't produce any more blowing ability than the had held models. Doesn't qualify as a professional model in any way.
Don't make the mistake I made in trying to save some money buying this product. It worked ok at first, but after several uses it just quit and will not start again no matter what I do. I should have saved my money and bought a stihl like my neighbor has. His is much older, gets more use and still works like new.
