Easy start, good air volume, short tubes

I spent the past weekend with this unit.  I found I needed to get used to how to use it best.  My 15 year old electric blower, still working, gives more velocity for releasing stuck damp leaves in turf.  But I also discovered that this unit has more air volume for moving leaves along.  So after many hours of full throttle work, I find it to be a good investment.

The 3-year warranty makes it sweeter.

The down side is that the included tubes are not sufficiently long for anyone 6' or taller.

Starting it is a snap.

Save your money and get a different brand.

What a waste of money.  I bought this when it was on sale for 200, thinking I was getting a great deal.  When I buy something labeled "Professional" I expect I'm getting something professional-grade.  This thing did NOT have the power I was expecting.  Hell, it wasn't much strong than the regular hand-held versions.  It's good for clearing  walkways and driveways, and any light loose bits you have on your lawn.  Anything else you may as well forget it.  If you have leaves hung up in tall grass, you're better off just raking them out.  Acorns, sticks, pine needles, piles of leaves only a foot high?  You'll be standing in one spot forever trying to move them.

And despite my diligence in maintanence (oil changes, filter, etc.) this thing failed in less than a year.  I took it to the Sears Service Center and they told me it was "premature engine failure".  Fortunately I was wise enough to have bought the 3-yr service plan and they replaced it for me at no charge.  After a year, the second one failed as well.  The replacement wasn't covered under any kind of warranty, so I have to junk it.  Stupidly, I bought a third blower when I saw it was on sale again for 200.  Sure enough, within another year that one failed as well.  So I'm done with these blowers and Sears/Craftsman in general.  INot to mention the quality is junk - the trigger is uncomfortable to use no matter how you adjust it, the blower pipe pieces start wiggling loose after a time and I found myself  having to duct tape them together, and the unit doesn't lay flat on the ground with the tubes attached and I have to prop it up on my foot to add gas, and that's not even to mention how the backpack straps start ripping apart after a few months.

f you want a REAL blower you can't go cheap.  I've been investigating higher-end Echo products and they seem to have the power I'm looking for.  I will never again buy a Craftsman product.  After all I've heard about them over the years, I was sorely disappointed.  I also bought a brand-new mower a couple of years ago and it's been in the Sears shop at least five times already - once to have the engine short block replaced.  Thankfully it was all at no cost to me since I again bought the extra warranty and service plan.  Meanwhile I have a second, older Craftsman mower and a weedwhacker - both without any warranty - and they have yet to fail or disappoint me.  So I don't know what's going on but Craftsman seems to be rapidly going downhill.  Stay away.

One star only because there is not a no star rating.

I have had it less than 6 months and it has been in for repair twice for the same issue. Stopped running. BOTH times the short block had to be replaced. ( bottom end of motor ) Sears techs states fuel mix IS correct. When I ask why has this happened twice? The reply was I dont know. Pro Grade. NOT even close. If it happenes a third time a Sears DM or RVP will be getting a call. Buyer beware.

So easy to use

This gas back pack is so easy to start and use. Blows leaves easy. Not so good with real heavy leaves, but overall a very good lightweight blower.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Movement restricted

the freedom of movement of the blowing arm is very restricted, no articulation. Something that takes getting use to.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Not bad

I bought this blower on black Friday for $130 and I feel it was well worth it at that price. I have used it for around 2 hours so far and it has moved a large volume of leaves, the blower is light weight and started easily. It is a step above an electric or hand held gas blower but I don't feel it would qualify as a professorial grade leaf blower. I cant speak to the durability of the unit but over all I am happy with my purchase.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

DO NOT BUY

Item was difficult to start right out of the box. (over 10 pulls) Followed instructions to the "t". Used 40:1 fuel. Once started item would shut off after 5 minutes or shut-off in 10 seconds once in idle. After it goes off it won't start again until engine cools down. Item is made mostly of plastic and the design may be the problem. The air comes through the back and i would get it to stay on longer if I just held the blower with one strap on my shoulder instead of using both straps. Took item back and they sent it to the manufacturer. It comes back with a new carburetor and pull system. Item still did not work properly. After that I requested money back. They said it would have to go back to the manufacturer 4 times before they would consider a refund or replacement. I need the item now. I would not recommend this to anyone. The warranty is useless and the customer service is horrible. I purchased a hand held blower by "weedeater" and it started on the first pull.
