with this craftsman professional reciprocating saw you can be sure of what are you doing, it is safe in all ways and the best of all it comes with the craftsman guarantee for life. I recommend this product to everybody.
I needed a reciprocating saw after my ancient Black and Decker started smoking and tripping breakers. This seemed like a pretty good value for money, especially after I got it on sale for less than even the 10 amp Craftsman model. I have two main gripes: First, it seems kinda loud. It is noticeably louder than my cordless Milwaukee Sawzall (and not as powerful as my battery powered saw). If it makes all this racket, it should slice through just about anything, but it struggles to take apart pallets, which is the main reason I bought it for. Maybe I'm using garbage blades, but I've used quite a few different ones and the results are the same. Two, and the real reason I gave this saw two stars, is the rotating head. Due to the exceptional quality control at the Chinese factory, the switch that keeps it locked (which, for some reason, is the same switch that turns it from orbital sawing to regular) doesn't stay where you left it. So you're sawing along and turning the saw, and the head goes another direction, which you did not intend. I cannot fathom why anybody would want the head of their reciprocating saw to rotate. Nobody scrolls with a reciprocating saw. That's what a jigsaw is for. Aside from that, its not a bad value for the money. Even at full price, its still quite a bit less than a Milwaukee Super Sawzall. But there's a reason that people tend to call all reciprocating saws a "Sawzall."
Has handled everything power wise. Blades that came with it are weak and dull quickly, bend easy. Carrying bag is good. I got mine 2 years ago and only used it a handful of times on household tasks. blade holder is now loose and is difficult to make a straight cut, because it wants to twist a little, even in the lock position, and the low quality blades don't help. Should have gone with the non-rotating version instead.
i recently bought the craftsman 360 saws all , i used it wice, only for a few minutes, the second time i used it , it broke, the head were the blade goes in snapped, and i had to use my finger to pull the spring back to get the blade out, after one month of owning it, using it twice and it breaking , it also did not cut very good, very slow and no power , i have always been a craftsman fan , i do not recomend the 360 reciprocating saw , they are junk, they should recall them and build a better, more rugged one. i only bought it for the 360 option , in wich you rarely use, the best saws all is the milwaukie, 10 times better/stronger and doesnt feel like a toy, if someone needs a saws all, go with millwaukie.
I have come to trust the quality Craftsman tools, particularly hand tools. With regard to Craftsman's Recipricating Saw I find the machine adequate for home and small worksite applications. I have a little bit of a hard time characterizing the saw as "professional" grade. I also have a Porter Gable RS and it is a true heavy duty machine. Of couse there is price, the Craftsman was around $100.00 and the Porter Gable was $800.00. So on the whole, I think I made a good purchase and as long as I don't expect more of the saw than it is capable of giving, I expect years of satisfaction.
Great saw really feels solid and the quick change feature for the blades is really awesome used the saw to trim some thick vines and it was like a hot knife through butter couldn't be happier
My son is an Electrican that does lots of home improvement projects at home on the weekends. This reciprocating saw is amazing. The variable speed feature makes it great for lots of different jobs.
