Much smoother operation than my previous B&D model

I've had this palm sander for aboyt 6 months.  I generally work on some kind of project every weekend.  My sanders get a great deal of work.

This model has a much smoother feel that the other brand I use to have.  I like the sealed switch.  The sand paper retaining clamps seem sturdy and make paper replacement easy.  The dust collection bag seems to work pretty well but I've not use it that much.  I generally use my central vacuum system.

I hope you find this helpful - keep sanding!

poor quality
i purchases this sander and within 27 days i had to return it 3 times because it stopped working. today when i was there to get it replaced again i was told by the sales person that he can not continue to give me new sanders even though it comes with a 1 year warrenty and i have only had it 1 month. in my opinion this sander is very poor quality and sears calls it there professional series. i would think that the professional series would be the best you can buy. my expierance with sears today will be my last.

Power switch makes it stop working.

The only issue I happened upon is the ?failure? of the power switch after approximately 40 hours of use. My unit suddenly stopped powering on in the middle of a project. I isolated the issue to the power switch. Sears Parts wanted $12 ($3 for the part and $8 shipping) for a new switch. That's insane, so no go there. Instead, I simply opened the switch and found a sawdust pile (or I suppose more accurately ?sander-dust pile?) roughly the size of a BB had accumulated in between the contacts inside the switch. This accumulation of sawdust prevented the tiny contacts from touching, thus not powering on the unit. I grabbed my handy can of compressed air, cleaned out the switch, reoriented the contacts, snapped the switch back together and bam! Good as new. Good sander. I was actually more impressed with its build quality after having opened it. It is just a shame that they did not opt for a sealed switch for $1 more to ensure a lifetime of trouble free use.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

2.4 PAD SANDER

I bought this to replace my older model that I had for about 25 years. This model picks up a lot of the sawdust. You still have a small amount left on the project but nothing like my old one. I like the pro series as it holds up best for me.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Sander

Seems to work OK. Doesn't really get rid of sanding particles. Needs a better pick up particles system. I probably should connect it to a vacuum for better pick up.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good Idea for a Sander--Just A Poor Design!

[Note: the title this website gives for this item is inaccurate. It is a "Quarter-sheet" Sander, NOT a 1/4 in. Sander. *** Sad. . . .Such a Poor Design for this "Quarter-sheet" Sander that calls itself "Professional": 1. If you cut a full sheet of sandpaper into four equal parts, trim narrow dimension for the width, none will be usable! Half of a sheet length is not enough to have paper caught securely in both spring-wire clips! (So you get two usable pieces from a full sheet--with a lot of waste.)   2. Even using a long enough piece of sandpaper, it is difficult/impossible to get the spring-wire clips to grasp the paper tight enough so there is no slippage on the pad.   3. The catches that hold the vauum bag are not secure/strong enough. If you use a ShopVac hose--which fits perfectly, any wiggling pressure from the vac hose will loose the attachemnt from the sander housing.

worked great until it broke

I have lots of long lasting Craftsman tools. This did not last 2 years. One of the spring levers that hold the sandpaper to the tool, broke off one inch from the end of the lever. Now, if I want to change paper, I pry the lever loose with a screwdriver, and putting it back in place is painful. I will look at another brand that has a better retainer system.

Craftsman professional 2.4 amp pad sander

I have only used this a few times, but it works well. Powerful enough for my needs, and I like that it comes with a hard shell case for easy storage.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Go to Walmart for a sander.

Sander pad wires broke. Can not get replacement parts. Had to make new wires from stock spring steel. Went to Walmart, got a cheap sander made in China. Works great, 1/3 the price.
