Good starter Drill
I've used this drill a few times since purchasing it. I've owned it for a little over a month. It performed like a hammer drill should. I'm very wary about the plastic collar that the perpendicular stabilizing handle mounts to. It doesn't seem adequate enough for such a task. But the drill it self has the right amount of power. I used it to drill about and inch or two into solid concrete. And it went through brick like it was butter. I haven't had any heavy duty drilling beyond a couple of inches of I can't say if it's good for such things. But it seems like it would have the power to hold up.

I do not recommend the craftsman hammer drill
This is the third drill that I have returned to Sears in two days. I started with the 7.5 amp professional hammer drill and moved up to the 8.0 professional hammer drill after the first two drills jamming on the trigger. After jamming, the drill would not stop and almost broke my leg after the bit got jammed and would not shut off. The chuck key design does not hold a bit. Here's a video to show the faults on the chuck. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_0np6SBwLA&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Great Tool

Great tool. Bought it to help drill through brick. Put it on the hammer setting and it went into the brick like butter. While some say that Craftsman's quality has gone down over the years, I have never had a problem with a craftsman product. Awesome product at a great price.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Worst tool Craftsman has ever made.

Mine also burned up the first time I used it, but no warranty as it sat on a shelf a year before I used it the first time. I have other Craftsman tools that I abuse commercially and you can't kill them.

chuck not holding

Drill showed promise, nice features, and quite powerful. Unfortunately the chuck does not hold a bigger 1/2 inch bit tight. Very frustrating, counting on it and it held up a days work. Hope it is a flaw with just this one drill, plan to have Sears replace it... Why is Sears having higher end stuff made in China???

BUYER BEWARE

This is by far the biggest piece of **** I have ever used. The first hole, got a little smoke. The second, third and fourth,a little more smoke.Stoppe using it and let it cool.Three holes later it is TOASTED!Plume of smoke, sizzling sounds, and a few sparks finished it off.I had to use my cordless 19.2v cordless to finish(which has crappy batteries that wont stay charged).Fixing to switch over to Bosch or Milwaukee.I will be verty surprised if Crapsman lets this get posted.Don't mean to be a Debby Downer but this drill is JUNK.

Great

Pricey but better quality than the no pro version (which burnt up at hole number 14). I am not a "contractor" so I shouldn't have had to purchase the pro version- but that said it is very nice - but have only had for a week - time will tell.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
