One Step in a Long but Important Process...

I am very particular about sanding my projects prior to applying a final finish coat; It doesn't matter it the workpiece is to be stained and sealed or painted. I believe that the extra amount of work I put into sanding the piece is a critical part of the project.

I generally use no less than three different sanding machines on a piece, I begin with my 3 X 21 Craftsman Belt Sander to remove the really rough portions of the wood and work down any joints. That step is followed by a complete sanding with my Craftsman Professional 5" Orbital Sander and these 100 grit panding disks. This step serves to even out any belt tracks left behind by the belt sander and works the surface of my workpiece down to an even, level plane.

The last sanding step that is performed by a machine is a complete sanding with my Craftsman Professional 1/4 Sheet Palm Sander with either 180 or 220 grit. The results are a perfectly smooth surface that is ready to accept any finish I choose to use.

These 100 grit sanding disks are ideal for cutting down both hard and soft woods. They do not fur up the fibers of the workpiece and last a long time.
