I had the rare occasion to replace rear shock absorbers in an early 90's GM A-body station wagon. These are of design common to GM, with a threaded stem passing through the upper mount that must be held fast while the retaining nut is loosened; a deep well socket does not work! Nor does any normal open or box end wrench, in this particular application. The answer was an offset box end wrench, and for this instance, it had to be a 15mm. All the ones I've ever had are SAE sizes. The only place in town to carry offset box end wrenches these days is Sears. Naturally, they did not have this size available as open stock. The set was on sale, though, and with some Shop Your Way rewards points, I was able to get the whole thing for about thirty bucks. Nice! Or, eh, not so much... The owner of the vehicle looked at the new wrenches when I returned. He noticed right away something I'd missed entirely, and that was that the wrench with the 15mm end was cracked. I asked if it was just a defect in the chrome plating, but he held it up and announced that he saw daylight through the crack before handing it to me for examination. Sure enough! New in the box, and already broken. I thought it would be at least strong enough to use this once, and I could have it exchanged under the Craftsman Unlimited Lifetime warranty afterwards. It did work. Sort of. No, it didn't snap or bend. The problem was that it wasn't a 15mm wrench! Now, my old 'Forged in USA' 15mm combination wrench fits that nut perfectly, open or box end. This offset box end wrench said it was 15mm, but was really more like a 15.5mm. It barely engaged the corners of this nut that my old 15mm wrench fit perfectly (if not squarely, hence the need for the offset wrench!), and with more than about 10 pounds of torque applied to it, it 'skipped' around the corners of the nut. This wrench was made for the Craftsman brand/Sears Holdings, LLC by Danahar Group in China. The set is being returned ASAP; it is unserviceable. The crack was one thing, sometimes that happens with metallurgy. That the wrench doesn't fit well enough for the wrench to be usable is the fatal flaw. I suspect that the other set that was on the shelf next to it is likely to have the same issues.
Having just purchased this yesterday and then carefully studying the quality, I can say that I just don't get the criticisms, other than the many made in china statements. This is a political statement and tells you nothing of the product. Then there were a few comments on the bad tolerances, too many variations in the walls of the box end and the poor finish. Well, my set has none of these problems. With a micrometer, I measured and compared the diameters of every wrench and I found they are nearly identical to my Snap-on wrench set (which I paid a ton for) to within +- 1/1000 of an inch. I also compared them to my combination professional craftsman set and the pro set were consistently smaller by 1/1000 to 2/1000 of an inch. The finish was very good and there were no problems with the plating. I noticed that there was roughness around the indentation connecting the box end to the handle. This is not an issue because I have noticed the exact problem in other much more expensive sets. I also noticed a slight roughness in the joint that connects the box end to the handle. I don't think this is a problem either and its hardly noticeable. I believe this set is one of the best deals available. It's hard to find a comparable set at this price. I'm glad I didn't listen to bad reviews. I would urge you to check them out and see for yourself.
No longer USA, now made in China. The fit and finish is not nearly as good as the older versions. The box end is thin in some spots and thick in others and that's on the same wrench. There are better alternatives out there for half as much.

I purchased these wrenches after using some of questionable quality. The Craftsman wrenches are very well made and to much higher tolerance than inexpensive brands. They are worth the extra cost and will last a lifetime.
I bought the set because it's cheaper than buying the individual wrenches. These are well made, fit great, and are really easy to clean. They work perfectly for the awkward hard to reach bolts and nuts. I have been really impressed with these.

I bought this set on sale and with reward points so it came out to $20. It's fully polished which looks nice and cleans up easy too. I've had no complaints so far. I believe most sizes you'll need for those hard to reach screws is in this set. I use this set mostly for changing my oil and brake jobs. I enjoy having two different sizes on each wrench because it gives you one size up / down in case you misjudge the size of bolt / nut. I recommend finding this set on sale on Sears.com (not in store) to save an additional few bucks.
