It doesn't come plumbed or wired out, but bigger units rarely do. I really appreciate this unit. I think it covers one man continuous use okay. It does not let me down in any way. The sales price break I received on the unit sealed the deal for me, I was looking at lower quality units for less than a hundred dollars difference. I like the cast iron pump, that was a selling feature that helped me decide on it. Unless I go big time pro, this unit will do anything for me from plasma, sanding, to paint. What else do I need besides a few impact and air ratchet operations.

Worked okay for a while and then the compressor pump started making noise. Then it began blowing oil through the hose. Kept adding oil when needed. It kept getting worse and finally froze up. Checked with Sears Parts Direct and the compressor pump is the same price as the entire unit. FIGURES!!! Everything today is throw way junk from China. No wonder our country is in such sad shape. I'll see if I can get the pump rebuilt at a reasonable price or go shopping for a real compressor.
Picked up this unit because my old compressor gave up. Got it installed and worked fine for a week. Had head oil leak. Was replaced. This one lasted 2 weeks. same problem. had it replaced. same problem plus with noise in compressor. With fourth compressor head leaking, Sears said they would replace the complete unit. I don't know why, will have the same compressor head! Would not tell anyone to buy this item!
bought this air compressor roughly 2 years ago on sale for 499. was a good deal at the time didn't want to pass it up. first thing I noticed upon break in, the pulley for the compressor pump knocks against the plastic housing. no biggey, trimmed the bottom. after about a year it started having troubles starting the motor, and finally after 2 years it appears the starter capacitor has gone bad (maybe the motor has gone bad, figure i'll start with the cheapest solution). So bad that the motor won't even start on it's own power with the belt removed. 5$ for a replacement capacitor, not a big deal but the quality of the craftsman name is terrible anymore. The switch "manifold"(as it's referred to in the product booklet) is terribly designed since it's not designed to be removed so you can properly clean the contacts on it. In Hindsight I would've been better off buying an 80gal from **************, or spending the money on a higher quality product.
I buy Craftsman Professional for a reason....that reason being that I want things to work and work well. So far that has been the case until I bought this Air Compressor. The leaks between the head and the tank were so bad that I didn't need to use liquid leak detector ...tried to tighten the fittings but still leaked. Called for a service repair and they suggested a replacement since it had only been two weeks. But catch is I have to load it back up and take it back to the store to get the replacement. Which there is no guarantee that the replacement won't leak.I really am starting to think that Craftsman quality isn't what it used to be. There is no way this unit was ever tested before it left the factory. !! I should have headed the other reviews....if I had it to do all over again I would probably go with IR.
Bought this compressor trying to save $ and restore a 60's muscle car. It could not keep up with the use of a dual action sander when performing body work. I returned the compressor in favor of Craftsman's next most industrial compressor, the Professional 80 gallon, two stage, 5 RHP compressor. Hopefully this one will keep up with the dual action sander. I would not recommend this item if you are performing body work. Also, the on/off switch broke right before I returned it to Sears. They need to upgrade the design of the switch.

The head leaks oil all the time when running. Sears tech put a head gasket on it, then a head , then a new pump and it still leaks in the same place. I smell a lemon.
