Does fine for what it is. Part 1
Lets see things for what there are. For all of the people boo-hooing about the performance of the compressor remember it?s a $600 compressor! I know the ad always seems to say ?$730 on sale for . . .? Each time I?ve looked I?ve seen $600 or so therefore it?s a $600 compressor. I picked mine up new for $446 so there you go. Not a display or scratch and dent if you?re wondering. One just has to be patience and the deals will come. For those that want high(er) performance then spend the money. Nice compressors that have high output, quick recovery, low vibration, heavier construction and the like are going to start at nearly twice the price of this one. Names like Quincy, IR, BelAire and such are well over $1000 for a two stage, 60 gallon tank compressor. Their motors are 5 hp and above. Now there are lemons and things do break for no good reason. It sounds like the warranty should have taken care of most of those that suffered so.

2 Down and Problems Still Exist.

We have a small door shop and have been using Craftsman compressors (33 gal) for several years.   When a motor siezed up we decided to up the game with a larger cap. compressor runing 220v.   Price was right and the company was solid... however, we have retuned the first because of an air leak and rattling sounds from the pistons.   The second one is leaking also and rattles even more.  It's a shame that we can no longer rely on Craftsman for quality products.   We had a service technician come to our business to look at the first one.   LOOK at it was all he did.   "Get it replaced" was his comment.  He did grumble while looking over the compressor "how am I gona find it?" - meaning the leak.

Lesson learned.  Will most likely keep this compressor for a few more days as the tech. is coming back with some "parts".   But I'm thinking that this is going back and we will buy something with more quality behind the name.

Shame that you can no longer expect Craftsman Quality.

Not enough for what I need

Bought this compressor trying to save $ and restore a 60's muscle car. It could not keep up with the use of a dual action sander when performing body work. I returned the compressor in favor of Craftsman's next most industrial compressor, the Professional 80 gallon, two stage, 5 RHP compressor. Hopefully this one will keep up with the dual action sander. I would not recommend this item if you are performing body work. Also, the on/off switch broke right before I returned it to Sears. They need to upgrade the design of the switch.

3 repairs and still leaking oil lemon

The head leaks oil all the time when running. Sears tech put a head gasket on it, then a head , then a new pump and it still leaks in the same place. I smell a lemon.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Two repairs in two months- Do Not Buy

On the '12 thanksgiving day sale, I purchased my husband the Kenmore 60gal air compressor for $500. As soon as we opened the air compressor, we noticed the compressor itself was leaking oil. We called and tried to return the unit but were told since it was damaged (even though it was damaged before we got it home), they had to repair and could not return. I had to take off a day of work for the repairman to come out, look at the unit and conclude that we needed a new compressor. I then had to take off a 2nd day of work for the repairman to come back and install the compressor. We ran in the unit on the new compressor as we were instructed in the owners manual and now the compressor is seized up. I called the repair line yet again, have to take off another day's work for a technician to come out and all the Sears representative on the phone said was 'well, after three repairs, we can replace your unit. Customer service was not at all helpful and this experience has been a nightmare.

Fantastic air compressor

I bought this baby for 499.00 on sale with the craftsman club, so for what your getting you cant beat the price, it runs great and is actually pretty quiet, normally this size of compressor can be quite loud. it runs flawlessly. I am really impressed with this compressor. I would recommend purchasing an air filter, regulator and lubricator type assembly for it. The only down fall I see with this compressor is the on/off switch, it feels a little weak, but for me its not a problem, because I wired up a seperate switch so I just leave the compressor on/off switch on all the time

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Power Cord not Included.

The compressor was a good price/ deal. Just be aware that the "Power Cord' is not included/ attached to compressor. At time of purchase we where not made aware that it was not included and that we would have to find an electrician to have it installed. The cord was not included in the the box. So it's an added expense.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Compressor

This thing does the job! I have used it with impacts, sand blasters and HVLP paint guns. It does all that I need it to do and never runs out of air. A dual-action sander might tax it a bit but it runs everything else flawlessly. At 499-599$ you can't find a better compressor unless you want to spend quite a bit more. Make sure you plumb it right and use the proper air dryer if you want your tools to last. Also, be sure to drain the water out of the tank daily!!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Same performance as the $900 Quincey comparable model.

I have owned the comparable model Quincey pump compressor for over 20 years. I wish the air cleaner/intake was threaded on and replaceable, but that aside this unit preforms the same & was $400 cheaper. I hope it will still be running 20 years from now.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
