I bought this tool to set up another tool box for my cottage. This tool failed to perform basic wire stripping in all gauges from 22 to 10 and the front end pliers don't meet at the tip so it is difficult to grip smaller objects with any significant force. The reason for these problems seems to be that the cutter and anvil protrude too far into the center of the pliers and this throws off the entire tool. I could probably file them down a few thousandths and resharpen and this might remedy the situation but it shouldn't be necessary to rework a new Craftsman tool. I also bought the Craftsman #82563 wire cutter/crimper and these work perfectly. The #82563 feels much better in my hand due to its longer grip and firmer plastic as opposed to the foam grips on the #45749. The #45749 wire strippers just do not have the feel of a high quality tool.

I've been looking for years for a set to replace my old ones. For some reason, everyone seems to think it's a great idea to have a wire cutter at the end. It's a fail when you're trying to crimp near other wires and there's always other wires. YAY
