Adapter plate attaches to router table using existing screws supplied with router Table. Easy to follow mounting template supplied. Screws for mounting adapter plate to router are not included. Mounts most non-Craftsman routers to Craftsman Professional® router tables 9-26463 and 9-26464 only. Some assembly required.

I recently bought the Craftsman Professional Router Table, believing my one year old Craftsman router would fit in it. Wrong! During assembly I realized that the correct mounting holes were not provided on the machined aluminum plate provided with the table. Huh?? The directions then prompted me to order this item to adapt my router to the table. Reading the description, I see that it would cost me another $20+ and required drilling and countersinking holes to fit my routers base. News flash, Sears!! If I need to drill and countersink holes on this item, I can just as easily do it on the part included with the set. I centered the sub-base on the aluminum part and drilled the holes to fit. Problems solved, and $20+ saved. This one was not thought through at all.

The adapter plate fits and drops into the 961181 Router Table perfectly. It must be drilled and counter sunk for the specific router using a provided template ... Instructions are clear and the template accurate. The adapter plate is made from heavy poly-carbonate and can worked with woodworking bits/countersinks. I used a drill press ... but a hand drill might work if you are very careful. The plastic inserts snap in (you must push hard) but like all inserts, must be shimed up to table hight. Use plastic electrical tape.

Sears item# 00926479000 Mfr. model# 26479 is the replacement for the drop in adapter plates for the older Craftsman Professional router tables 9-26463 and 9-26464. Unfortunately, if you leave you router attached to the drop in plate (for months at a time. its weight causes the plate to sag. This is the only way to make the table functional again. Kudo's to Sears for keeping it available.

In all fairness to Sears (re-the previous review) can't really fault an item for not being something it doesn't claim to be. They do not promote this item as the centerpiece for a custom built table - but as a drop in for thier table(s) which would have come with the rings mentioned. What gets my goat is that Sears would try to sell me a router table for almost $200 that I (and a sizable number of others) are going to have to turn around and spend another $20 to be able to use. But - again - as long as they dont claim it to be something its not - it's my fault if I dont read the box. Which btw - I did -- and thats why I didn't buy the adapter or the table.

This item is nothing more than a worthless piece of garbages being sold as a professional woodworking accessory but ,instead will not perform its intended purpose. The item is sold without the necesory accessory rings and of course Sears does not sell the rings and a universal replacement is not available since the ring hole size is not the standard. I built a very expensive router table around this plate just to find that because of Sear's plate, I have a piece of equipment that cannot cust a straight line even with Sear's $100.00 professional fence.
