Hold On Tight With This Craftsman Punch Holder
Take your chisel work to the next level in safety and accuracy with this Craftsman punch and chisel holder from Sears. This punch holder uses a three-point contact on your chisel to create a secure fit, which allows for more accurate positioning and an easier job well done.
While this Craftsman punch holder certainly improves the accuracy of your work, it also adds an element of safety for the operator. Using the punch holder helps to keep your hand farther from the strike zone, reducing the risk of accidents. It also helps to reduce impact shock and vibrations that travel through your hand when you chisel unassisted. The lightweight (only 0.37 lbs.) punch holder is well suited for a chisel up to 5/8 in. hex stock, and it comes with a long-lasting, chemical-resistant handle.

Overall, others give this:
I'm quite satisfied with this Craftsman Punch & Chisel Holder. It holds a wide range of sizes and easily fits in the tool box so it is readily available when it's needed.
I bought this since sometimes holding a chisel is not easy, and can be painful. This is well constructed, and the threads seem strong and straight. I also love that it is still made in the USA. I have lots of tools and there is a difference between those made in China and those made in the USA.

this could have saved several smashed thumbs over a life time. works best with flat sided chisels but will also clamp round shank tools. just keep an eye on it and tighten occassionally
This open side design allows you to hold wrenches so you can strike the wrench with a mallet unlike other holder tools that have the closed loop design that are only good for punches and chisels.
The Craftsman Punch and Chisel Holder is a very simple, yet often over looked tool. Many times in the past, I have struck a knuckle or two while swinging a hammer and trying to hit a chisel or center punch anbd missing the mark. I saw this little niffty tool while shopping for some other Craftsman tools one day and decided to purchase it. I use this in my small engine repair shop and it's great for holding my chisels while trying to cut corroded nuts from studs or trying to line up mounting holes to secure bolts. This tool makes it very easy to hold the chisels and center punches and helps keeping your hands out of the way and from getting accidently smacked. This tool also gives you a better grip and leverage and you are less likely to have the chisel or center punch from falling out of your hands while working. As I said, this is a very simple but necessary tool to have in your tool box.

I bought one of these years ago when I built my first set of tools as I became a licensed aircraft mechanic. This tool is solidly built, the handle is rock solid. I put some large size punches in it and struck them with a good deal of force and never had any problems. The punches stayed in place (well, they did if I had the set screw properly tightened) and the handle does a good job of dampning the vibration. There is only one aspect of this that I do not like, and it is probably due to my use of it. I cannot make the fine adjustments in angle and position that I like to make when shaping metal. For the fine cuts I always retrun to holding the chisels in my hand. "Sacramento" Bruce Conklin
