How to extend the range
Originally, I was frustrated by the very short range of the transmiter. Then I extended the original antena by soldering about 10' of additional wire, which I pulled across the width of the garage. The range now is at least 200'. The manual that came with the unit is a waste of paper.

Won't program
None of my new secure + remotes will program to this unit. only the one that came with it worked. I followed the instructions to press & release the learn button and held in the button on the remote , light blinks and nothing.. So I did an erase and and tried to program them, now even the one that came with it won;t work now. JUNK! waste of time & good money.

garage door universal kit

This was a very easy universal kit to install that was supplied with plenty of wire. The biggest draw back was the batteries in both remotes were dead when i attempted to program them. The programming was very easy to do and the kit has worked great since.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

A RENTER'S DREAM

A REMOTE WITH ITS OWN RECEIVER IS THE BEST IDEA. IT IS ALREADY PROGRAMMED AND NEEDS NOTHING MORE THAN TO HOOK 2 WIRES TO THE GARAGE DOOR OPENER, OR WHATEVER DEVICE YOU WISH TO OPERATE BY REMOTE CONTROL, PLUG IT INTO THE WALL AND YOU ARE DONE. THE BEST PART IS, WHEN I MOVE OUT, I TAKE IT WITH ME AND THE EXISTING SYSTEM IS LEFT AS FOUND. I LIKE PURCHASING REUSABLE MULTI-PURPOSE DEVICES. THIS PARTICULAR REMOTE HAS SAVED ME A LOT OF FOOTSTEPS NOW THAT I CAN ENTER THE GARAGE WITHOUT GETTING OUT OF THE CAR. SECURITY-WISE, THE PREVIOUS TENANT'S REMOTE CAN BE DISABLED AND YOU HAVE THE COMFORT IN KNOWING THAT EVEN THOUGH THEY KEPT THE OPENER REMOTES WHEN THEY LEFT, THEY CAN'T USE THEM TO ENTER THE PROPERTY.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

easy & convenient

It works. My garage is about 1000 feet from the street and sometimes the remote doesn't open it from the street. In a way, that's kind of nice because that means anyone trying to break the code to get in can"t do it from the street. That's added security.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

easy install - very limited range.

I purchased this hoping that I would be able to use it on my motorcycle. While it does work and was easy to install. I have to be right on top of my garage door for the remote to activate. Anything past 20 feet from the receiver is non operational.

Useful for some situations

This remote control adapter does what it is supposed to do. It allows other garage door openers to be operated with the new Craftsman black-button remotes (one included in this kit). I had no trouble installing it and the included remote is pre-programmed to link with the adapter. By plugging the adapter into the duplex receptacle on the ceiling that powers the GDO, the included bell wire is WAY more than enough to get the job done.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

awesome system!

I received my items around 6 pm today and had it installed by 6:30 pm the same day. Very simple and works like I wanted. I had another remote system that was coded like another neighbors system which created my door opening without me knowing. The new remote system fixed that problem as well with the new installation. I now have two remotes coded on one system, without anyone else having access to my garage. Thank you Sears, for good products such as these.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Easy install but the online description of product is incomplete

This took about an hour to install; not a problem. I didn't order it online because the description of the thing online DID NOT explain that both the remote and the new receiver were in the same package. I'm not stupid, but being online savvy (therefore suspicious), I could not be certain from the photo of whether the product included both the new receiver AND the remote, or just the remote, overpriced though it would have been. It could have been showing the receiver just to be sure the buyer knew whch remote clicker went with this receiver. All that aside, I went to the local Sears store where I found an opened unit and bought it. Came home with it. The instructions were pretty easy if one didn't overthink them. Some previous buyer had compromised the packaging and the product itself, but left everything there, so a little engineering was required to get the bell wire to install on the receiver. But, an hour after starting, I had the new remote working, the old remotes working, and the remote keypad working. All is good. Thanks Sears. Hope it doesn't break down soon!  :-) ... (I just can't really figure out why the original receiver (installed 1991) went bad, lost power, or no longer responded to the remotes. What's up with that? Satellites last for decades with the same kids of circuit boards; why can't these?)
