I own a Craftsman lawn edger; a quality machine that has given me many trouble free years of service. I only purchase craftsman blades for my edger. I purchase a pack of of these blades every year. First of all they are always in stock at my local Sears Store. A knowledgeable sales person can always direct me to the correct location were I know I will find my blades. I suppose if I shopped around I might be able to find a blade to fit, but I don't want the hassle. The Craftsman blades fit my machine correctly, they are perfectly balanced so that they spin wobble free and one pack usually gets me through the season. What can I say; I quess I take the quality and ease of purchase for granted. I never even think of going to any other seller. Sears is the best when I purchase anything from Sears I know I'm going to get a quality product at a fair price sold by very helpfull sales people.
I am completely floored that this is a popular attachement item and that the replacement blades can NOT be purchased in stores or service centers (in Colorado, anyway). The blade needed is a 7" blade for item # 79240. The 7 3/4" blades sold in stores and service centers won't work as the main mounting hole in the middle of the blade is 3/4" on the 7 3/4" blade while the 7" blade needed has a 1" hole. So an advertised $9.99 isn't factual when you then have to pay for shipping of $7.00 (standard shipping and almost the cost of the blades themselves) for an elusive item that should be very accessible whithin stores and/or service centers ESPECIALLY since it is a normal wear and tear item. It's like buying a car and not being able to go to an autoparts store or the manufacturers dealerships/service centers for replacement brake pads but instead having to buy them online, pay for shipping and handelling because the manufacturer of the vehicle doesn't realize that this is a part that wears out and should be made available at a reasonable price. This is absurd. If an attachment can be purchased in a store then parts for those attachments should be more easily accessible without such a misleading price and hardship just to acquire the part. Having to pay $7.00 for standard shipping for a $10 item that is less than or about one pound is ridiculous. Not only that but the Sears service center has the reverse nut, washers and other replacement parts that shouldn't need replacing until after significant aging or lack of care (i.e. rust) for the edger attachment. Come on Craftsman and Sears, let's make this part more easily accessible at a fair price.
This 2 pack of edger blades replaced my old edger blade just fine. The blade is easy to install. My old edger blade lasted a little more than a year before it needed replacing.
A powered edger provides a trim appearance for a lawn, and is much easier to use rather than a garden hoe or 'push wheel' edger.
The blades were not in the package. The package was taped to the out side of my weed eater box that I ordered at the same time. Some how they either fell out or was taken from the package during shipping. I don't understand why they didn't put the small packages inside of the weed eater box when shipping. Who ever put the order together was or is about as smart as a box of rocks. It ask to rate the item, but kind of hard when you don't get them.

I've been using these for a couple of years and they wear down real fast, but they do cut good if you have it on a powerful enough trimmer, I would recommend the 33cc or a 4cycle trimmer.
