Craftsman  Revolution 42 in. Mulch Kit

We purchased the Revolution Zero turn with the 42 in. deck and mulch kit. If the mulch plug would stay in place it would be GREAT!! It falls off most of the time which means stopping and starting alot. There isn't a good way to keep it attached! Also, if we could do it again...we would go with the 46 in deck as the 42 in deck is even with the tires so you can't get that close! The 46 in deck gets up close (our neighbors bought this one!) Would also go with the stick control Zero turns rather than the steering wheel type.

I've used this for about 3 months. Not very effective. First the blades are not high lift like the original blades that came with the mower, so if you use them without the deck's mulch plug, the clippings don't disperse as well. Second the plug does not stay in place on the deck outlet, especially if there is more than an inch of grass to be cut off. I've tried several times to mount it, following the directions and it just won't stay in place. Maybe some heavy duty duct tape will work! The rubber strech cord just does not do it, no matter which way I mount it. When the mulch plug is in place, the lawn looks terrible, with clumps of grass clippings everywhere! I rated this 1 star because the blades do cut grass, but the original blades are much better, because they lift the grass as it is cut and blow the clippings so they don't clump up.

I first put on the cover without changing the blades - this did ok. When it cane time to sharpen the blades, I used the blades that came in the kit - wow, what a difference! No clogging and not grass left too long. Not only is mulching better for the yard, but no clippings to dispose of!

Wow lawn looks great. very easy to install and I have no dust or clumping. Good buy for the money.

Just bought a new sears ride on and immediately converted over to this mulching kit. It does a very good job of cutting the grass. My lawn has a nice even look after every cut. Kit is very easy to install. Highly recommend.

The blades cut perfect. They make the lawn look like a golf course. The shute cover is nice because you can leave the old one on and prop it up out of the way or you can leave it down. On tall grass, it does leave a lot of clumps so be ready to pull the cover once or twice. Nice kit for the price.

I installed my mulch kit a few days ago, and I'm ecstatic with it. I read in another review that the kit causes excessive dust to be thrown into the air but my experience is just the opposite. When I mow non-lawn areas that have gopher mounds and mole tunnels, the dust thrown into the air when I run over one is considerably less than when using the discharge chute. I also read that the plastic is thin but I consider it to be pretty robust. The lawn's appearance after mowing with the mulch kit is much better than when using the discharge chute. It looks to be a very good product that I would glady recommend.
