Bought this for a 17301 Craftman plunge router. Made a special trip to pick it up at the store and save shipping cost. Got home, and found it DOES NOT FIT my router! Would have been nice if the website had made that clear! Very frustrated!!

I recently purchased a Craftsman plunge router (27666) an found that I needed an edge guide. I read the postings regarding this item as used with the 27666 and how it didn't fie\t, bound up etc. Those postings were from a couple of years ago. I called Sears and they were NO help. I found one of the guides (pn 64181) at a local store and tried it with my router thinking that modifications might have been made. The edge guide fits perfectly and slides the distance of the rods without binding. I wish Craftsman / Sears had addressed these problems in this forum. It would have been nice if they had stated that the problems with the product(s) had been resolved.
I needed to make multiple cuts with my new router to make a slot on the side of my TV cabinet to fit my new wider TV. This was only long enough to get out about 7" There's no way to flip the guide so I could make it longer. I guess it's good for cuts near the edge of wood.

This is not easily adjustable as you have to have a phillips screwdriver handy and three hands to adjust. A little more expensive guide (with some modifications) that for most small adjustments uses an easily to adjust screw wheel that can be turned with your thumb and index finger but for large adjustments does require a screwdriver. I returned this product and opted for my older router guide.
It is not the guide, it is the slot/hole the guide goes into, there is a ridge that prevents the rods from going all the way through. I just bought a new drill bit set from Grizzly Tools and found the 25/64 bit and cleaned out the hole. Works fine. Should not have to do that sort of thing, but out here in the country you have to do what you have to do... .
I bought this edge guide with router model # 27666 and it don't fit !!! the guide rods are 3/8 dia and the holes for the guide rods on the router base is 21/64 dia so i took the edge guide back to the store and a employee checked to see if the edge guide would fit other craftsman routers, after trying all the models they had there the guide would only fit one fixed base router. the box claims that it "fits most Craftsman routers" which is a lie it should state "will not fit most Craftsman routers" and to add insult to injury i wrote to Sears and they replied back and told me go back to the store with my reciept to have a store employee help me find a guide that will fit my router ...... really ? after i had already done that and explained that they have a problem in my letter to them...... what a joke !!!!!!
I bought this for the 27666 plunge router. The manual for the router says this is the one it needs. The rods are way to big to fit it though! I returned it and Sears salesmen said they know it doesn't fit it. What... NO other edge guide fits my router and the edge guide is a function I require for the router I bought. WTF.
I just bought the 27666 plunge router, and the 3/8" rods that this edge guide has are too large to fit into the base.
