I picked up a 113.236110 scroll saw at a garage sale for $35 bucks with an unopened package of pin-type blades. This is my first scroll saw and found it real difficult to cut any type of wood with pin type blades. I didn't want to give up on the saw just yet and decided to try plain end blades.
I found this kit at sears and saw that it might potentially work with my saw today. Took me about 5minutes to get it mounted and about 5minutes to put in a blade, and it works great. The cuts with plain end blades leave, the surface smooth with almost no kerf, this is exactly what i was expecting this scroll saw to do.
I don't understand how the other reviewers thought this kit was difficult to install. I was up and going in 10minutes.
The lower blade holder sits in the lower adapter bracket like a pin type blade, i wish it was bolted in like the upper arm adapter, so changing a blade is a pain. What I did was i used a rubber clamp to hold the lower blade holder down against my workbench, inserted blade and tightned the blade clamp till its snug, then inserted the blade into the upper arm while the lower blade holder was in its place and tightened the upper clamp.

I could certainly use this kit, as I would like to cut more intricate work than is possible with the pin end blades. However, the item has been listed as "temporarily unavailable" for nearly 6 months! I am about to give up and put the scroll saw on CraigsList, so I can go out and buy a better saw that can use pinless blades right out of the box..

My old Scroll Saw only used pin type blades. The conversion kit made my saw use pinless blades and now I can cut more intrecite patterns. The work great.

This kit has worked well for me with a change that I made. The upper screw to tighten blade I put in from right to left (reverse that the directions show). On the threads sticking out to the left, I put on a wing nut that is used to tighten in the blade. Much easier than trying to use hex wrench each time. It will need to be tightened more than finger tight though.

I found that the lower blade clamp hit the arm that holds the miter gauge on the up stroke. I actually had to break that lower portion off. The lower blade holder will end up on the floor if the blade snaps. One I got this dialed in, clamps tight and tension just right ... this is not a bad upgrade

Put this converrsion kit on about 2 years ago. It works but blade slips out if to much tension is on it.Not the easiest to use but does what it was made to do.

I agree with the other reviewer..it is not an easy product to install...the holes on the upper and lower ARMS do not line up therefore you can not assemble the product on the scroll saw....I will be returning the product the my SEARS store and expect a FULL REFUND...The instructions state that the product NOT FOR USE ON CRAFTMAN MODEL No. 113.235180 ..my model number did not match that number...SHOULD HAVE WORKED...

This kit is nearly impossible to make work. I have spent hours installing and trying to make the non pin blades work in it. Not worth trying. I'm going to buy a scroll saw that will properly handle non pin blades. At $25 I'm going to try to get my money back. Bummer!
