Save Your Machine with The Right Snowblower Pins
It's happened before, your snow blower is humming along, cleaning-up winter's mess, throwing arcs of snow from your driveway, when all of the sudden the auger stops in mid-turn. The engine is still going full bore, but the auger is frozen in place. The stress that the engine exerts on the gearbox as it revs is about to start causing damage when SNAP, the snowblower pins holding the auger to the engine driven shaft break, the stress on the gear-box is released and engine settles into a smooth purr again.
From rocks, to snow-covered newspapers, to balls and toys, there are a lot of things that may be lurking under the cloak of freshly fallen snow, things that will choke-up your snow blower, potentially stripping cogs, splitting gear boxes and costing you hundreds of dollars in repairs. That's why it's important to always have a few spare shear pins on hand, and never replace a broken shear pin with a regular bolt, even as a temporary fix, just don’t do it.
Designed to break under the PSI specific to each machine, the Craftsman snow blower pins are designed to help your snow blower last for decades while saving you hundreds in costly repairs. Made to fit easily in the pre-drilled auger and shaft, these shear pins drop in with ease and with a cotter pin fastener, you don't need to lug around tools to replace them. Just throw a couple in your pocket before you head out to blast that driveway clean, and know that no matter what lurks under the snow, you've got it covered.

IT'S A MUST TO HAVE THESE EXRTA PINS ON HAND. BUT THE PIN COULD HAVE RING TO GO THRU THE HOLE END INSTAED OF THE CUMBERSOM COTTER PIN.

I have a Sears snow thrower/blower that seems to break shear pins when I run it particularly hard and into ice. That is good, for the auger is not bent or broken. It happens no matter how careful one tries. These replacements fit and the games recommence.

Got to have these on hand, so buy some quality that work with the snowblower so you don't break something more costly

These shear pins work with all the current model Craftsman walk-behind snow throwers and are designed to break if the auger on your snowblower hits something other than snow. By breaking the shear pins keep you from breaking the transmission or burning out the drive belts. You want these pins to break fairly easily. These shear pins protect your machine from chunks of ice, garden hoses, bricks, kids toys, shoes, branches and most other random objects that may be hiding in the snow. If you break a shear bolt and you don't have a spare it is tempting to replace the broken one with a bolt. Bolts are too hard and the next chunk of debris that goes into your snowblower could destroy the transmission, bearings, or drive belts. I highly recommend your purchase a pack or two of these today so you are never without them.

These shear pins work fine and saved me during a recent storm. I had one pin broken and no spares so I was getting only 3/4 of the power of the snowblower. Replacing the pins was easy with a little 3-in-1 oil. I drove the old pin out with the new pin, slid it in place and with a pair of needle-nose pliers tied the cotter pin. Shear pins might be a problem on gravel driveways, but on my 300' paved driveway, they function fine. This is the first pin I've replaced in 4 years!

If you are snowblowing a gravel driveway, be reasonable. These do what they are suppose to. I have a paved driveway and have replaced them once . on my 2nd year. The bad reviews are from people who are expecting a $2 part to take care of a a $5000 issue.... pave your driveway, or get a snowplow
