I purchased this vac in July 2012 from the Sears store in town. Two weeks later it was delivered and when we started to put it together some of the parts were missing. I called the phone number on the front of the parts manuel and really got a run around. The person I talked to was very rude telling me they didn't even make that machine anymore and wanted my whole life history, when I ordered it, how I ordered it , send them my original order and a bunch of other information. The first part finally arrived and we had to purchase the rest of the stuff locally. The soft will not stay shut. We had to jerry rig some straps to the top and the bed to get it to stay down enough to keep the debris from blowing out. It does run good, easy start. It is difficult to empty. My suggestion would to only let it get a little over half full before emptying, otherwise it is very difficult. It does a good job, but if I had to do it over I would save my money and get a hard top.
I purchased this item because I have several rental properties that I have to rake every fall. Raking by hand is alot of work and takes alot of time. I thought by purchasing this it could save some work and time. I am definitely excited about the purchase, it works awesome!
I bought this vac in the fall of 2012 as my large yard with a lot of leaves was getting a bit much. I thought it was great. That was the only use it had. Now, it is Saturday evening, and I have spent the day trying to start the vac. I tried fresh gas, and tried to get a new plug. This new Briggs takes a new plug that you can only get from them. Sears does not carry it. It can be ordered from Sears on line, but not in the store. It does not cross to other plug types. I think that for a thousand dollars, one use and one year, I should be able to pull this vac out of my lawn shed and use it. Thus the rating!
It works very well as a lawn vacuum attachment, easily digests leaves, small twigs, pine cones, etc. but for the money being paid for it, I'd add a bit more and buy the one that can also be used as a light duty wood chipper. It would have come in handy for Superstorm cleanup.

I was totally amazed at how well this works, great suction and was able to do my entire property in less than half the time it normally took. Also the fact that I could then dump it in the compost pile with little effort saved me additional time and labor... very happy with purchase
After attaching the device the motor started on teh first pull. the vacuum works well. Assembly is a nightmare. the instructions were difficult but I muddled through pretty well until I got to the plastic adapter for attaching to the tractor. I used a key hole saw and cut out the adapter exactly according to plan and pattern for my tractor. Unfortunately when I went to connect the adapter it was totally wrong including cutting 2 additional holes for castor wheels my cutting deck did not have. After duct taping the holes and making my own connection for the adapter with parts supplied and some found in my workbench I adapted the adapter. My advice is to ignore the directions for the adapter and cut your own guide by putting a piece of newspaper over the tractor deck after you remove the deflector shield. Drill holes after you get the adapter near where it has to attach and then bolt, screw, attach what you need to get it to stay in place. Remember it needs some flexibility. good luck
Bought this in Fall 2010 to do the leaves. A month later the engine shaft snapped off, between the impeller and the engine, for no apparent reason other than maybe the shaft was too narrow for the weight of the impeller. Had it on extended warranty so Sears repairmen replaced the engine and impeller for free, even upgraded it from a 5.5HP Briggs 5/8" shaft to a 9HP Briggs with a 3/4" shaft. I'm happy with that. Notes: 1. The soft top lowers the price to what I call affordable, but there are issues. The top does an accordian foldback when you want to empty leaves, and the wire ribs tend to collect a helluva lot of grass & leaves that don't fall out when you tip it back. You have to get in there with your hands and pick it all out - a pain. 2. I can see that the fabric top is going to be my next maintenance project as it tends to wear out over time, even when stored indoors as mine is. My warranty lapses in Dec 2012 so I'm planning to replace it with a DIY plywood box.
I am a cripple and it took me 2 days top assemble but once it was together and I tried it, it was great, picked up the leaves and grass as it should starts with 1/2 a pull and that is good as I said I am a cripple bad neck and back. I just wish the wagon was bigger as I have 2 acres and I have to empty it often but i does a great job. Also this product even though it is sold by Sears it is an Agra Fab product.
