This is a neat organizer. I use it as my "inside" toolbox for small tasks around the house (hang a picture, measure something, stud finder, outlet tester, etc). Capacity is large and you get a lot of function in a compact package.

Over the years, Sears has offered two versions of the Great Tool Organizer, with the only real differences in the lid. The new lid offers added parts storage and an updated grip design. The grip of the new lid is far superior in comfort, but you loose the ability to stack the tool boxes because of the new parts storage feature. The older lid is flat on the top which makes for easier stacking of the tool box, but the handle design may cause discomfort if the organizer is carried for a long period of time, or the unit is overloaded. Lids may be moved from box to box, with out problems. This is a good thing. Klein Tools offers the older flat lid version of this tool organizer in their product line, but at a slightly higher price. The new Craftsman version of this tool box is made in Mexico, and like many things made outside the US, fit and finish may be lacking with this product. Make sure you look at more than one tool box before you make your purchase, if possible. Other reviews note that the hinges are plastic. I have never had any hinge problems, but metal would be a nice upgrade. I would pay a little more for an upgraded version. I store my tools based upon usage, one toolbox for motorcycle tools, another for electrical, etc. These tool organizers work very well for that because they are not real large and bulky, and yet are able to store a good amount of tools. They fit great in a trunk of a car and even behind the driver's seat. I own four of these Organizers, three Craftsman, and one Klein Tools. The oldest is about eighteen years old. The bottom line: This is a good tool box for the money, but it could be better. Give the box metal hinges and redesign the lid so that it offers parts storage and allows stackability of the toolbox. Then you will have a GREAT tool box. Are you listening Sears?
