Nice Vacuum - Too Small Hose
To be fair to this product, I must start by saying that my needs are different from what this product is apparently designed to serve, and I suspected that before I bought it , but I was hopeful. I have long looked for a small but powerful shop vacuum to replace the old Sunbeam that I have used for forty years, a compact and effective dry vac with 2.5? ports that fits neatly under my workbench. Unfortunately, the shop vac market seems to subscribe to the ?bigger is better? mentality that precludes good products in small sizes and I have not found a small vac (5-10 gallons) with a 2.5? hose. This vacuum is nicely constructed mostly of plastics. It is compact in size in an elongated shape that fits well in small spaces. It has features not typically found in shop vacs including a retractable cord and exhaust filter. It is supplied with both a cartridge filter and dust bags as well as a foam wet filter. It is unusually quiet and lacks the shrill high frequency components that make most vacuums (shop and home) so obnoxious. What?s not to like? The scrawny 1 ?? hose that is totally unsuited for shop use! The vacuum?s inlet port is 2.5? so why such a small hose? The 7A motor is not as large as those of the monster vac?s but appears to have far more efficient fan design than my old 6.5A, axial flow Sunbeam, which did quite well with a 2.5? hose even at 18 foot length. I purchased this vac along with a 2.5? hose that included adapters for three different connection types. Unfortunately, none of the adapters fit this vacuum and, although I considered all manner of modification, eventually I concluded that none were feasible without major fabrication. I regret that I must return this unit since it is a really nice vac, provided that all of your tasks can be accommodated with a 1?? hose. It?s probably a great vac for indoor use or for cleaning the nooks and crannies of a vehicle interior, but it won?t do for wood chips, oak leaves and other shop debris, even in small quantities.

Terrible Suction!
I'm not sure why everyone is raving about the suction. It is TERRIBLE! I had a similar craftsman shop vac a year and a half ago. It was the model before this one came out and I LOVED it! The suction was excellent and better than many vacuums that you pay a ton for. The new model pales in comparison. Also, another thing that really annoyed me was that they made a notch on the large vacuum tool to keep it propped up (when attached to the hose) but there is no place on the shop vac to place the notch in. Terrible engineering!! And I paid $80 for this!??? You have got to be kidding me! One other thing is that on the earlier model there was a way to get less suction if you wanted to vacuum a rug or curtains. It was great! This model is without that option (most probably because it is not needed because the suction isn't powerful enough to do anything but curtains) I am returning this vacuum and am going to look for the earlier model online. I really hoping I can find it. Craftsman, I am terribly disappointed! You went cheap.

wonderful product

This vac is wonderful. It is compact, quiet, powerful and complete. I love the retractable cord. We have had the old version of this vacuum for years. It was very dependable and efficient.. This new model looks like it has the potential for long life and durability. The wheels are very smooth rolling. It is light weight, but solidly built. I foresee many years of good service

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Very Solid, Easy to Use

I replaced my very old Craftsman Wet Vac with this model. The old one still worked but was hard to move around and super loud. This new one has great suction and really nice wheel base for easy movement. It is also really quiet!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Product

This is a well designed product. I needed a smaller more portable vac and this has more than enough power to handle any job I have tried. The new motor design that makes it quieter is definitely a plus. I had the model that this replaced and I think the improvements were made in the right areas. I just hope it lasts as long as that one did.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Best for Us

After the recent thaw, our basement had seepage. With no way to dry the linoleum and carpet, our first thought was to get a Wet-Dry Vac. Without hesitation my husband went to our nearest Sears store. The salesman helped him in the decision to get the best unit for the job.....the Craftsman 4-Gallon 5-Peak HP Wet-Dry Vac. By the time I got home from work, he had most of the seepage vacuumed up. We are very pleased with the operation and ease of vacuuming and emptying the reservoir. It is not huge and cumbersome, but is the perfect size for our home. We will definitely recommend this unit for the everyday homeowner.

Shop Vac

This is certainly not our first shop vac. They don't seem to last. Since I bought this one, it has had quite a workout. we are doing a floor to ceiling makeover for our 100+ year old kitchen. This vac has held up well. It is very maneuverable, not too noisy, and the filter catches a lot and cleans out fairly easily. This vac is not very big, so it must be emptied more frequently. However, this makes it easier to store since it isn't huge. Having used it, I would definitely make the same selection if buying again.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Power in a small package

I have a 16 gallon unit. That unit works great for the big jobs in the garage. I was looking for a unit that would be easy to move in and around the house. I was afraid of losing power. No reason to fear. This unit with it 5 HP motor works great and the 4 gallon capacity keeps it from weighing to much. it came with more tools then I was expecting. and the smaller diameter hose helps me get into tight spaces. I highly recommend this unit.
