No one tool can do everything. In fact those tools that are developed to be "Universal" sometimes end up being useless. These little Universal Joints are a MUST HAVE for your Ratchet/Socket collection. If you attempt to tighten or untighten a nut without the socket being firmly mounted and perpendicular to the fastener, you will more than likely round off the points of your fastener, rendering it useless. The problem is, that you don't always have enough clearence to mount your tool in the proper manner. So, what can you do? One solution is to install one of these helpful Universal Joints. They enable you to mount your socket correctly while having the ratchet at an odd angle. You still get full use of the tools ratcheting power and you will not damage your nut. It is very affordably priced and is backed by Craftsman's amazing lifetime replacement warranty. A no-brainer!

I have purchased several of these 1/4 inch universal joint swivel sockets. I have used these to death, placing many extensions, adaptors to 3/8 inch sockets, etc. They work great rarely without fail. If you use them correctly you will never break them, sometimes they do break and Sears has always replaced no questions asked. Worth the money.

I own two of these peices, one for my SAE set of sockets and another for my small metrics. I like the smooth finish and how it allows my sockets into confined spaces where you might not be able to get a ratchet on it straight on. I keep this mounted on the end of my rack where it can be reached easily. For the discriminating mechanic, do yourself a favor and get one of these with a lifetime warrantee. The only problem I have with it is sometimes the chrome chips on the ends or near the wording text indentations, but then... my tools get a lot of work.
