      Valve Spring Compressor
This is the only spring compressor that would work on my Dodge Neon 2.0L valve springs. I tried the cheaper pry bar type compressor and the screw compressor that works like a puller and neither would work. Once the spring was compressed, the compressor would lock in place which made it hands free and made it easy to remove the valve spring keepers. I would highly recommend this tool.

      Almost useless...
Not a very good tool and surprised that it has the Craftsman name on it. The "ears" of the valve spring holder were not the same and had to be bent to work. The release is in a bad spot and overall a bad design. A regular C clamp did the job much better.

Good to remove terrible to install

Working on a SBC 350 engine and the original heads had 80# rated springs on them and they were more than 20yrs old so the compressor worked fine to remove them. It was good but the pushing rod that goes to the valve seemed a little 'flimsy". Then came time to install the new 110# rated springs on a newly finished head. FORGET IT! I could not get enough compression pressure to move these down easily. To get enough force, i had to extend the rod almost to the end and the problem there was that it becomes very "unstable" and would start to slightly wobble from the pressure and play on the rod. After 20min and much cursing and retaining clips flying through the air I gave up and had my machine shop install them. Took them all of 15 min for all 8 and $25. Save your money, hands and time.

Why rent even if it's free?

Went to the auto parts store and rented(free) thei valve stem remover. I already had the heads off and the tool they gave me was almost impossible to make work. I bought this one and had it apart, new seal in, and back together in an hour. You can spend more but, this baby does the trick!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      Valve spring compressor

It work's great no problems with it!!!! None of these spring compressors are made to bottom out a valve spring you are going to break any of then that way Trick hit the valve with a hammer on the valve head and they compress easier and won't break the tool!!! It help's release the the keeper!!!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      Craftsman Valve Spring Compressor

WOW. What a great tool. I am a professional mechanic and this tool meets all of the expectaions   that I have as a professional. The craftsman ship and durability of this tool rates up there with much more expensive tools for a fraction of the cost. I would recomend any one to purchase this tool.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman Valve Spring Compressor gets us out of a jam.

The Craftsman Valve Spring Compressor was strong and worked extreamly well in the flat head engine. The shop that I work in uses Air powered Spring Compressors but were to big and bulky for this job. This spring compressor has been added to are arsanal of spring removel tools.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
