WOW. What a great tool. I am a professional mechanic and this tool meets all of the expectaions that I have as a professional. The craftsman ship and durability of this tool rates up there with much more expensive tools for a fraction of the cost. I would recomend any one to purchase this tool.

The Craftsman Valve Spring Compressor was strong and worked extreamly well in the flat head engine. The shop that I work in uses Air powered Spring Compressors but were to big and bulky for this job. This spring compressor has been added to are arsanal of spring removel tools.

Not a very good tool and surprised that it has the Craftsman name on it. The "ears" of the valve spring holder were not the same and had to be bent to work. The release is in a bad spot and overall a bad design. A regular C clamp did the job much better.

Very easy to use, well made in the USA. Absolutely invaluable for that kind of job.

This tool failed on my third valve - I will be returning it for a refund. Its very light and cheaply made - I would not recommend this tool for anything but very lightweight use.

If you only plan on using this tool for a job or two it works just fine and is a great value at $20. If you are planning on buying a tool for use on a more permanent basis you should look elswhere. This tool would not hold up long as a shop mechanics tool if they were going to do valave jobs on a consistant basis but I needed it for a one time use and will keep it in case I need it again in the future.

For light duty use only, e.g. small non-automotive engines. Other than that, well made. Good value. Not enough leverage to compress heavy spring on autos or large motorcycles.

The value of this tool is second to none. Once you have the tool set up for your valve springs you can move at a decent pace to change out your springs much faster. The style of compressor that has the lever on top that you rotate to compress the spring against two teeth is much slower and more dangerous to use. Once you get the hang of this tool it really is not bad to use. The only thing I am not sure of are the jaws that hold the spring the seem somewhat weak but for the price it really is fine. Good tool to have cant complain. Unless you want to spend A LOT more i recommend this tool all the way.
