First thing I noticed -- no switch. It sits on my desk and randomly beeps for 3-4 seconds. It sensed where I knew there was AC. But I wouldn't trust using it if it was critical that I know when it was safe to work on a circuit. Thus it is useless.

Light doesn't work as indicator is exposed to AC current. Dangerous!

AC detector did not work as described. Drove 35 mins to Sears for this item. Opened package, inserted new batteries and tested this product. Detector gave low volume beeping but failed to provide blinking light. Paper insert advises consumer to call 1-888-326-1006 for assistance instead of returning meter to store. Called number, described problem and was instructed to return item to store!! Two 35 min trips to Sears will cost me more than meter is worth. What a waste of time on my part and waste of customer service resources for Sears.

life saver

I cannot begin to tell anyone how many times my life was saved by this device, being able to double check if the power is live is handy and saves lives

Ok tester, battery sucks, no on or off switch

I do appl. repair, good for quick check for 110 volt circuits, easy to carry. Battery life sucks no on or off switch, battery hard to change have to force off cap. When it works does ok. Have a Green Lee, bought at Sears, at least turns off to save battery.

Cheap and Very Effective

I wish there was an on/off switch to save battery life, although I have had mine for a couple months and the battery still is good. This could save your life during remodeling projects to help determine if the lines are hot or not as you never know how a house has been wired prior to your arrival.

Doesn't leave a good impression

Haven't use it in about 6 months. Went to use it, and it would not work, changed batteries, still not working.
