Craftsman  Wall Scanner with CenterVision

I bought this for 50 bucks thinking it would be a better product than others that were much less in price. After putting 8 holes in my wall because this thing cant determine where the stud is, i gave up and returned it to the store. I checked twice before putting the hole in the wall and nothing. I tried every setting on this thing, thinking i was doing something wrong, read the directions and still the same results. Returned to the store for a full refund.

I'm satisfied with this purchase. I had an earlier model Craftsman stud finder that worked like a champ. I've had it for probably 20 years, and it still works to this day. I was looking for one to purchase for my son in-law when I settled on this one. It works as stated and has proven to be reliable for me.

The Craftsman Wall Scanner is a cool tool to have and helps save you time on your projects. Me and my wife are remolding a room in our home and have plans for more remodels later in thew fall and during the upcoming winter months and purchased this tool to assist in not only locating the studs, but assist in finding the center of the studs as well. Being able to locate live A/C wires hidden behinds the walls was a huge safety factor also & did a great job at locating the wiring to a light switch and some wall sockets. I have not used the feature of locating metal pipes just yet, so I cannot speak to that portion of the tool just yet. I have been able to locate wooden and metal studs with ease. I like when the display shows you the location of the center of the stud and then at the same time displays a red light so that you can easily mark your center point of the stud that you found. This saves from missing the stud or making necessary holes in your walls while working on a project. I like this tool so far and have a few jobs planned for it in the coming months. I would recommend this tool to my friends and family.

It must be something about stud finders. They just seem to develop contrary personalities when I am using them. It just seems that these devices have trouble deciding where a stud is really located. I can run it over a wall section and mark where studs have been identified. Then, when I run it over the same section again, it places the stud in a different location or displays it as a different width. I have owned several Craftsman stud finders and I think the wire warning finder works the best, was able to locate studs more precisely than this one.

I have had many stud finders and when I went to buy this one it was more expensive them the others, but I thought that I would give it a try, and I will not ever buy another kind again. Highly recommended

You should be VERY careful when ordering this product online for in store pickup!! the picture and description ARE NOT what you get-the 49066 model only has three modes-NOT FOUR-- the 49067 model has all four scans and that is what is pictured on the website and the description also matches the 49067 which doesn't even show up online but it's available in stores. I ordered this and went to pick it up I didn't look closely until I got home and was about to open it. The model shown and described here is NOT the one you get-took it back to the store and showed them on the store computer what was shown and described and they gave me what the website was showing but even after calls to corporate - about a month ago- it still hasn't been fixed.The correct product i finally got after wasting gas on a return trip works great but what a pain!!

I have had this stud finder for 2 years now. It is so useful. I now can fid the center of the stud with ease!! Everyone should have one of these.

Deep Scan mode was unable to locate studs behind a combo of 5/8" drywall and 1/2" OSB wood sheathing. (My math puts that at less that 1.5"). The normal stud mode worked fine on walls w/ drywall only. The AC mode and metal mode seem to work fine too. I liked the display as well.
