I love Sears and I have loved Cratsman products, but if this represents the future of "Craftsman", I am done. I bought the WeedWacker 2 months ago and had used it maybe 6 times before it wouldn't start anymore. When it did run previously, I had the problem
the same reported by others - it would only run at full speed and idle, but nothing in between and it would try to kill if not given full throttle. Now it won't start at all and I have damaged my shoulder trying to get it started. I checked the spark and the gas and both were fine. Tried to call the 800 number for help and got no answer after 10 minutes on hold. Was loading the trimmer into the car to return it when I notice it was leaking fuel/oil. Looked closer and discovered that the cover where the optional cover attaches was loose. Turns out that it needs to be tight to have compression in the cylinder. Besides being a ridiculous design, the quality control inspectors never caught that the two screws had not been tightened (and one was missing entirely). I am keeping the trimmer for now because I don't have the receipt, but I have NEVER been so disappointed with Sears!
The unit has no power, 25cc, you can't keep line on it I went through a box of pre-cut line within the 2nd use and for a total of 5 hours I had gone thru the entire package of line and that was just doing the low grass and drive and sidewalk edge just simply POOR Quality, I'm going back to STIHL maybe 50.00 more but Sears is no longer for me ,except MAYBE hand tools

I bought this trimmer on Father's Day this year and I rue the decision to this day. It was nicely priced at $100. I had no issues with the packaging, the assembly, the instructions ... even the somewhat arduous starting method. The problem is the trimmer is poorly designed with respect to the angle of the head. Very hard to achieve a level cut. Also, the engine continually died on me, unless I was giving this piece of junk engine full throttle. Moreover, the trimmer head will stop spinning (and therefore cutting) at any speed lower than full throttle. So it's either going to shred everything in it's path, or it will cease to spin at all. Because of the flat angle of pole and head, it makes it very hard to not dig into the turf and destroy the grass. Lastly, the **** thing vibrates down the shaft so much, that my hands were numb and sore after only 15-20 minutes of use. I've never written a review on a product before in my life, but this thing was SO BAD, that I just had to create an account here and warn all of you - DO NOT BUY this piece of garbage. PS - Sears refused to take the **** thing back too. I called in an effort to return after 35 days of purchase and policy is return w/in 30 days. Do not make the same mistake I did. $100 bucks down the drain! Blake
a little hard to start but its a real go getter. just follow the onboard instructions, cuts thru the tall thick grass like butter. cant wait to get some of the attachments for other jobs. would buy this one again.
Had had a Craftsman for 10 years .. it started giving me run problems .. it had been a great machine .. bought this unit took it back the next day took 10 min to start and then would only run 1/2 choked .. if you tried to cut any thick grass the head would stop turning even at full throttle ... only did 1/2 my yard and took it back ... cleaned the carburetor on my old Craftsman and it runs like new again .. should have done that in the first place ..
