I love Sears and I have loved Cratsman products, but if this represents the future of "Craftsman", I am done. I bought the WeedWacker 2 months ago and had used it maybe 6 times before it wouldn't start anymore. When it did run previously, I had the problem
the same reported by others - it would only run at full speed and idle, but nothing in between and it would try to kill if not given full throttle. Now it won't start at all and I have damaged my shoulder trying to get it started. I checked the spark and the gas and both were fine. Tried to call the 800 number for help and got no answer after 10 minutes on hold. Was loading the trimmer into the car to return it when I notice it was leaking fuel/oil. Looked closer and discovered that the cover where the optional cover attaches was loose. Turns out that it needs to be tight to have compression in the cylinder. Besides being a ridiculous design, the quality control inspectors never caught that the two screws had not been tightened (and one was missing entirely). I am keeping the trimmer for now because I don't have the receipt, but I have NEVER been so disappointed with Sears!
Bought the same model two years ago. Had pretty good luck with it so when it gave up the ghost (probably ethanol and carburetor problems) I bought the same one. Started right up - haven't used any attachments with it but appears powerful enough.

i purchased a lower end Craftsman model hoping to be able to eventually get an attachment to cut thicker brush. I went to buy one to find out I could not get one. So I was talked into buying the higher end model with inter-changeable attachments. After buying this WeedWacker, it turns out that it uses A LOT more GAS and i have to run at a higher RPM than my other weed eater. What took me 45 mins to do with the this weed wacker, I was able to do the same amount of work in about 15-20 mins with my lower end model. I am not impressed at all. I would definitely NOT buy this product.
after my son broke our other weed with her it was time to purchase a new one I was a little hesitant in getting a gas with her because I was not sure on how strong I would have to be to handle it. I do notice that it is a little bit on the heavy side being that I am pretty petite. This is much stronger than our last electric with her that we had maybe a little overkill for what we need I tried to tell my husband all we needed was the light duty but you know how guys can be ;-). this weed with Willie does the job it is much faster than my other one but I do notice problems on keeping it started maybe it's just me since I'm used to only using electric ones I would definitely recommend buying this!
This is as bad as a craftsman that I bought several years ago that would not start until the bulb was pumped at least 20- times and then i would have to pull the cord at the least 15 times. My wife bought this even though I objected because it could be started with a drill motor and she thought that would be the cats meow. Well it was not. it would NOT start the second time we tried to weed eat the yard. She took it back and Sears couldn't get it started so they talked her into taking another one. What a piece of **** Sears is.

Wow I never though I could use a gas weed eater ,was pretty frightened of them but came home and got it running and I love it, it is so easy to handle and will buy another when needed
These new EPA carbs will only run on ethanol free gas. Mine started right out of the box but after using for 10 minutes would not accelerate. Bought 2 cycle gas in a can as per owners manual and was able to get it started and accelerated for a hour and finished my yard. Very strong with no hesitation using either accessory (edger, blower, etc). Need to find an ethanol free gas station because that can gas is expensive!!!!
Stopped running and I hardly used it. This was a BIG disappointment! I took it back to local Sears to get it repaired and they called today and wanted $186.00 to repair it - Say what? It didn't cost that much new! Sears needs to look into this if they want people to continue to buy their Craftsman Brand! Not good!
Gas Trimmer was hard to start and after running for about 10 minutes it started to slow down and finally quit. Could not get it to start again no matter what I did to help it start. I returned it back to the store the next day.
