<span>I love Sears and I have loved Cratsman products, but if this represents the future of "Craftsman", I am done. I bought the WeedWacker 2 months ago and had used it maybe 6 times before it wouldn't start anymore. When it did run previously, I had the problem
the same reported by others - it would only run at full speed and idle, but nothing in between and it would try to kill if not given full throttle. Now it won't start at all and I have damaged my shoulder trying to get it started. I checked the spark and the gas and both were fine. Tried to call the 800 number for help and got no answer after 10 minutes on hold. Was loading the trimmer into the car to return it when I notice it was leaking fuel/oil. Looked closer and discovered that the cover where the optional cover attaches was loose. Turns out that it needs to be tight to have compression in the cylinder. Besides being a ridiculous design, the quality control inspectors never caught that the two screws had not been tightened (and one was missing entirely). I am keeping the trimmer for now because I don't have the receipt, but I have NEVER been so disappointed with Sears!</span>
This unit was purchased in September of 2013. Used several times and then again in May and June of 2014. The "Fixed String Head Assembly" (all plastic) began to wobble and melted on one side as it came off center. I checked the FAQ on how to remove the push ring (Item # 18) to remove the Head Assembly and found that many had the same problem. My other wacker of 20 + years had a metal head assembly. I called Sears repair center and they could not find anything listed on how to remove the push retainer ring only how to put it back on when replacing the Head Assembly. Called Sears parts and they will replace the Head Assembly under warranty. 5 Stars for that. Since there are others with the same problem, maybe Sears should look into a better replacement Head Assembly. The unit works great and starts easy.
Good product. Overall easy to use for a novice. Starting isn't really difficult if you read the instructions and follow them. It's a little heavier than I would like but it's easy to use and does a good job.
I found Sears to have the best selection and options when shopping for a weedwacker. This is my second Craftsman product purchased this year (I also purchased a Craftsman lawnmower a month ago), and I am satisfied with my purchase.
We could not get this to run for more more than a minute. We are going to bring it back. Might have something to do EPA regulations on new 2 cycles. I bought a new Poulon chain saw recently and had a lot of trouble but at least I did finally get that to run. We will either try the 4 stroke or buy a cordless elect.
I LIKE THIS PRODUCT BECAUSE IT IS NOT TOO BIG AND FAIRLY LIGHTWEIGHT....LIKE THE WAY IT STARTS....I JUST BOUGHT A CRAFTSMAN PRESSURE WASHER....SO FAR I HAVE LIKED ALL THE CRAFTSMAN PRODUCTS THAT I HAVE BOUGHT...
After reading reviews and "********" reports I purchased this today. Out of the box I added fuel, primed it and it was running great on three pulls. But within 10-minutes if trimming around the house foundation the string was worn down to a useless stub. This model requires you to stop what you're doing add more string each time you need to add more string, unlike my old Ryobi which had a "bump" mechanism. It's going back in the morning. If you trim against any stone walls or foundations, I would not recommend you even consider this type of string system.
