excellent item for the price, easy to start and is perfect size if you are not 6 foot 2" or taller, it is ideal for shorter people not having to bend over to get the job done, mine has been very dependable and it beats the older models i have had before. I would not recomend this for a very tall person but for me the length and wt is ideal, i give this cutter a 5 star rating..
I literally bought this trimmer an hour ago, Now i'm just waiting for the engine to cool off so I can return it.
It's a process to get it started following the directions. - prime bulb 10x then place choke to setting 1 and pull 4x.. then move to choke setting 2 and pull 3x... then choke 3 and allow engine to run for 30 sec.. etc.etc.etc. (I'm not kidding!! It actually lists ALL of these steps to get it started.) Once started (huff, huff) the engine wouldn't rev to full power without manipulating the choke and once it was actually placed IN the grass to trim... it bogged down excessively!
The trimmer shaft is way too short (I'm 5'11") and you have to uncomfortably bend over for it to touch the ground. - If you're 4'9" it would be a perfect fit though.
I bought this unit to replace my old Craftsman trimmer I had for over 8 years. The head gasket was blown and it leaked oil/gas and became very difficult to start. This NEWLY purchased unit is a JOKE compared to all my prior Craftsman products, as I said, Shame on Craftsman for putting their name on this one. I would definetly NOT recommend this to a friend.
In hind sight..... I only paid $74 for it at Sears and was hoping that the Brand Name alone wouldn't let me down.

Research was done as this was a gift to my son and I wanted to give a gift with both value and durability and the Sears gas weed/trimmer was the best value. Son comment after use was "THIS WAS AWESOME" pick up at store was simple and will continue to use whenever I can. Thank you Sears
This weed wacker is good onoy because it is very difficult to start. There are too, too many steps to get it going . Once going it is aslo hard to get the line out by tapping the bottom. I was used to my older Sears weed wacker in that it started much easier andthe line came out more easily. Otherwise it is good !!

I purchased my weed eater, approx 14 years ago. With a little maintenance, every year. It still never fails to start first time. By the way, to keep it starting every time. Use premium 93 octane fuel, e.g BP, Exxon, Shell and Chevron. You will never have any problem with the fuel systems.
