excellent item for the price, easy to start and is perfect size if you are not 6 foot 2" or taller, it is ideal for shorter people not having to bend over to get the job done, mine has been very dependable and it beats the older models i have had before. I would not recomend this for a very tall person but for me the length and wt is ideal, i give this cutter a 5 star rating..
I literally bought this trimmer an hour ago, Now i'm just waiting for the engine to cool off so I can return it.
It's a process to get it started following the directions. - prime bulb 10x then place choke to setting 1 and pull 4x.. then move to choke setting 2 and pull 3x... then choke 3 and allow engine to run for 30 sec.. etc.etc.etc. (I'm not kidding!! It actually lists ALL of these steps to get it started.) Once started (huff, huff) the engine wouldn't rev to full power without manipulating the choke and once it was actually placed IN the grass to trim... it bogged down excessively!
The trimmer shaft is way too short (I'm 5'11") and you have to uncomfortably bend over for it to touch the ground. - If you're 4'9" it would be a perfect fit though.
I bought this unit to replace my old Craftsman trimmer I had for over 8 years. The head gasket was blown and it leaked oil/gas and became very difficult to start. This NEWLY purchased unit is a JOKE compared to all my prior Craftsman products, as I said, Shame on Craftsman for putting their name on this one. I would definetly NOT recommend this to a friend.
In hind sight..... I only paid $74 for it at Sears and was hoping that the Brand Name alone wouldn't let me down.
Ultimately - "You Get What You Pay For"
Bought this trimmer a couple of years ago. Worked fine for about a year and then lots of trouble starting it. Never easy to start unless the electric powered booster was used. When the booster failed, it then became incredibly hard to start. Look elsewhere for a trimmer. Also, the line trimming system is very wasteful. It doesn't jam but you throw away lots of line. Stay away from this piece of equipment.
I finally needed to get another weed wacker and this one was priced really good on sale. With the curved head it works really well and is easy on the back. I am 6ft tall and most others I am bending over way too much and your back is killing you until you are done. I prefer the bump feature instead of the manual feed line. Plus the bump feed has two sets of line coming out for very nice cutting power. Definitely a thumbs up on this one!
had to replace my old craftsman weedwacker this season. Not to happy with the starting of this unit. I does do it's job just hard for me to start. My older machine started a lot easier. I does have enough power to get the job done.
