excellent item for the price, easy to start and is perfect size if you are not 6 foot 2" or taller, it is ideal for shorter people not having to bend over to get the job done, mine has been very dependable and it beats the older models i have had before. I would not recomend this for a very tall person but for me the length and wt is ideal, i give this cutter a 5 star rating..
I literally bought this trimmer an hour ago, Now i'm just waiting for the engine to cool off so I can return it.
It's a process to get it started following the directions. - prime bulb 10x then place choke to setting 1 and pull 4x.. then move to choke setting 2 and pull 3x... then choke 3 and allow engine to run for 30 sec.. etc.etc.etc. (I'm not kidding!! It actually lists ALL of these steps to get it started.) Once started (huff, huff) the engine wouldn't rev to full power without manipulating the choke and once it was actually placed IN the grass to trim... it bogged down excessively!
The trimmer shaft is way too short (I'm 5'11") and you have to uncomfortably bend over for it to touch the ground. - If you're 4'9" it would be a perfect fit though.
I bought this unit to replace my old Craftsman trimmer I had for over 8 years. The head gasket was blown and it leaked oil/gas and became very difficult to start. This NEWLY purchased unit is a JOKE compared to all my prior Craftsman products, as I said, Shame on Craftsman for putting their name on this one. I would definetly NOT recommend this to a friend.
In hind sight..... I only paid $74 for it at Sears and was hoping that the Brand Name alone wouldn't let me down.

I really like this item it started for me every time for a year or so then suddenly died and would not start, took it apart as the throttle control broke and discovered all the fuel lines were dissolved.

We just needed a cheep dependable weedeater, and this was the perfict one,I took it out put the guard on and put the gas in pumped the primmer 10 times the second pull it was running, and it works great we have run it for about 8 hours already and even let the nabors try it and they are going to also get one.The was things are built today this is one of the great ones,I would recomend it to everyone....Thanks Tom Rush III
Used it twice for a couple of hours. Overall it performing well compared to the cost. It seems like taking a lot of fuel. Comparatively, it is pretty noisy and without ear olugs, they can harm your hearing!
The head freezes up and ruins the line spool and bump ****. Replaced spool and **** and it happened again. Tried a different head system and it also froze up on the shaft. These items will be going back to Sears, I will go for a more expensive model, if I have any problems it will go back and I will buy one from somewhere else. I am a strong believer in the Craftsman brand, but things like this can change a persons mind.
