excellent item for the price, easy to start and is perfect size if you are not 6 foot 2" or taller, it is ideal for shorter people not having to bend over to get the job done, mine has been very dependable and it beats the older models i have had before. I would not recomend this for a very tall person but for me the length and wt is ideal, i give this cutter a 5 star rating..
I literally bought this trimmer an hour ago, Now i'm just waiting for the engine to cool off so I can return it.
It's a process to get it started following the directions. - prime bulb 10x then place choke to setting 1 and pull 4x.. then move to choke setting 2 and pull 3x... then choke 3 and allow engine to run for 30 sec.. etc.etc.etc. (I'm not kidding!! It actually lists ALL of these steps to get it started.) Once started (huff, huff) the engine wouldn't rev to full power without manipulating the choke and once it was actually placed IN the grass to trim... it bogged down excessively!
The trimmer shaft is way too short (I'm 5'11") and you have to uncomfortably bend over for it to touch the ground. - If you're 4'9" it would be a perfect fit though.
I bought this unit to replace my old Craftsman trimmer I had for over 8 years. The head gasket was blown and it leaked oil/gas and became very difficult to start. This NEWLY purchased unit is a JOKE compared to all my prior Craftsman products, as I said, Shame on Craftsman for putting their name on this one. I would definetly NOT recommend this to a friend.
In hind sight..... I only paid $74 for it at Sears and was hoping that the Brand Name alone wouldn't let me down.

This item had pieces falling off, no longer starts half of the time and started to have problems with the twine once the warranty ran out. Ran great while the warranty was still in place.

I purchased my 25CC Craftsman trimmer used, it was a return to a Sears store for the same reason many people on here don't like the trimmer at all, the carburetor adjustment. I'm a professional small engine mechanic and have 6 years of experience in repairs. This is a well made trimmer, the half crank 25CC engine has surprising power and the spring assisted starting recoil makes it extremely easy to pull. When you buy these trimmers new the carburetors are set to EPA standards to comply with the emissions ratings across the country, they sell a D shaped splined screw driver you can buy on the internet for around 10 dollars to adjust these carburetors. There are also videos if you look up how to adjust a trimmer carburetor. The bump feed head works very well with the Craftsman professional .095 diameter line I put in it, the shaft is very well made too but can be on the short side for a lot of people but has a 10 year warranty on it. It's a good trimmer for the money overall.

I have this trimmer as a back up trimmer, I have good trimmers but this one is a "just in case" trimmer,, and its awesome.

It will take the newer make spindles which I find more convenient than having to change the line after every job.

I am happy with this product. The string unit is hard to change out or advance the line if it retracts into the unit.
