I have had this trimmer almost a year now. After the first couple of uses I found that it doesn't like to be yanked on too hard to start, but then again who does? When I first got it I would yank on it as hard as i could and it would not start (10-15 pulls) After I actually read the manual, I got the picture. I found that a slower more consistent pull with full bulb of gas and it will start up in 2-3 pulls. At the end of the season last year I did nothing special. I didn't even bother running the gas out. Probably not advisable for most folks. This spring it started right up. Mind you I live in central TX and my winter season is very short (about 2 months) This thing is pretty heavy, if I edge all the sidewalks and around the fence and the house, I start to feel it in my arm and back after about an hour. The question would I buy it again more than likely. I will probably head out and buy some attachments for it this weekend, probably the edger and the hedge trimmer.

I used this model, and the model below this one. Both of them started having clutch slipping issues and bearings making noise after around 45 minutes of use. Returned trimmer and purchased a Husqvarna gas trimmer.

Purchased 4/12 and ran ok for first season. Second season very hard to start. Fifteen or Twenty minutes of pulling and it might start. I use sta-bul in gas and ran it dry at end of first season. one expensive hunk of junk. Sears and Craftsman has gone down in quality since becoming part of Kmart (my opinion). I gave it one star because there was nothing lower.

I purchased this trimmer last summer because of how well it did the consumer reports test and because it can run the .130 lines. It ran OK on mid-throttle but would sputter at full-throttle. I ran ethanol free fuel and drained the carb, lines, and tank before storing it for the winter. Now the motor will not start. I asked at the store what I should do about it and they asked if I had ever run E10(10% ethanol) fuel in it and I said yes. I was then told that the warranty is void if you use standard fuel in this device. As it turns out these Craftsman trimmers all have MTD engines that come from China. Do yourself a favor and go to a local Stihl or ECHO dealer and get something decent. It will only cost you a few dollars more but you will not have to repair/replace it in a year.

This trimmer works fine and has sufficient power for the jobs I have done but I plan to add a sling or harness to help support the weight.

There are several screws that came loose soon after I began using it. One is missing completely and isn't identified on the schematic.

Love this trimmer. Starts on first or second pull everytime. Love not having to bother with the choke. Adjustable handle works great. I did switch out the head with the old Craftsman dual line hassle free head so that I have 4 lines instead of the 2 that they have gone to. Also like that I can use any size line with this trimmer. Also purchased the edger, hedge trimmer, and pole saw attachments. They all work great!!!
