Great Sears Value
I've had this welder for almost two years now and it has been great. I've completed several projects without any problems with the welder. Good Points: -The construction is solid; I've had nothing break even though I am rough with my tools. -Adjustment knobs and switches are big enough to manipulate while wearing gloves. -Replacing wire spools is quick and easy; also adjustment of wire-feeding tensioner is easy and intuitive. Areas which are less than ideal: -It has a short "duty-cycle" so one can't weld continuously; Yet this should be expected for a welder of this price. -Welding metals greater-than 3/16 inch is not this welders specialty; it would require multiple passes and is generally more difficult--again, this is to be expected from a welder in this price range. -Probably the only real shortcoming of this welder is the cord length. The instructions do not recommend using an extension cord, thus the user is forced to use the welder close to an outlet. For most DIYers like myself, the most convenient location for building projects is in the garage. Obviously, welding indoors can be hazardous and I would NOT recommend it. All things considered, great little welder for the money!

So - got this MIG welder and there was no flex coil spool! It was missing...what no oversight at the factory? Now I have to go buy it...

Could be worse....

Came with .35 wire, and several each of .30 and .40 contact tips. The machine isn't even spec'd for .40 wire ?!? I bought this unit to replace a briefly owned unit from that dirt cheap too store... you know the one... at three times the price, this unit preformed no better. Low power/speed (which is the application for which I wanted a simple Flux-core unit) was an utter fail. No matter how many adjustments I made to the wire tension, or what angle or direction I worked in (Save for brief moments of manually pushing "in" with the wire) this unit would not maintain a steady arc. It simply sputtered and made wonderful looking dots of weld. it wouldn't feed smoothly below a speed setting of about 3 1/2 - 4. Above that, it worked fine, but for the price, and with the "Craftsman" name on the outside, I expected a lot more. If you are doing heavier work than I, and don't mind buying your own set of starter tips, and chucking the spare .40's, this is not a bad unit, albeit overpriced

Great welder for the price!

It is good for anything around the house, the barn, or the farm if it needs welding. The cart makes it easier to use. It can be taken anywhere and plugged into a household outlet.
