Solid but unspectacular
I installed this unit about a week ago, and it works as advertised: reception is fine where I installed the receiver, and the green / red LEDs work fine. However, now that I've used it a few days, there are some obvious shortcomings: no audible alarm, and the receiver cannot be easily moved from room to room. In addition to an audible alarm, it would be nice to have a connection to a PC or smartphone.

Simple, very useful product

With 3 drivers in our family, our garage door is up and down constantly, and sometimes we forget to close it. We hung the receiver in the busiest spot in the house, the kitchen, and it's very easy to spot if the garage door has been left open. Installation takes a couple minutes and is very, very easy. We can easily add another transmitter for our 2nd garage door. For us this is a no-brainer! In terms of full disclosure, I work for Sears and I sell these. I decided to get one for myself and am glad I did!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman Monitor for Garage Doors

Great product for those of us that craw into bed at night and wonder if we have closed the garage door or not, knowing that in the past you have left it open all night long. At around $39 it is easy to set up and it works well. It has a steady green light when the door is closed and a flashing red light when the door is open. The transmitting unit is fastened to the garage door with a Velcro strip that is included. You have to insert a small round battery which is included. The receiving unit can be easily fastened to a wall with a small screw almost anyplace in your home. There is a small plug/transformer with cord that powers the unit. If you place the receiver in your bedroom where see it from the bed, then you will never have to climb out bed to check your door again.

Don't waste your money - or your time.

This monitor lasted less than one day. After it started blinking red and green lights, instead of a steady red (when the door is open ) or green (when the door is closed ) I went to Sears web site to check the previous reviews on it (which I should have done before I made the purchase ) and discovered that I was not the only one that had experienced this problem. Had I checked it out first, I could have saved myself 2 trips to Sears. I did receive a refund but I would have rather had a unit that worked.

Garage Door Monitor Review Model 139.53696

Overall a fine product. Easy to set up and use right away. Would have liked an audible with the flashing light. Our garage is detached and the signal is going through several walls over 50' away. If anyone has the batteries discharge quickly, it's a short, return the unit. Mine has been up over 6 months with no problem and minimal response to interference. I did have to reprogram it once after 3 months and had 1 false trip, Overall, a good reliable product.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Works Great

I was looking at mine today and noticed the garage door was open on my detached garage. I am writing my first review, because I noticed reviews that I do not agree with. I have had this monitor for over a year and a half with no problems. I have still never changed the batteries on the garage unit. Also, I read that someone was disappointed that the receiver part had to be plugged in the house. I never had the urge to wear it on my belt.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

One Great Garage Door Monitor

This outstanding wireless garage door monitor provides both security and status information by showing whether the garage door is open or closed. I use it to check the garage door status (make sure that it is closed!) each and every night.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Garage Door Monitor

Works great, lets you know if door is up or down. Solid Green Light : Door Closed. Red Flashing Light : Door Open. We have it in the kitchen. Just bought another one for a friend. Easy to install.

Good idea poor implementation

Installed easily and the adhesive on the velcro seems strong. Worked fine for 1 day. Then it would not register when the door was open. By adding a tilted mount to the unit so that the top points more downward, it seems to be working properly. Instead of using a ball bearing or something to trigger the switch, they should have used a mercury switch. I think the ball gets hung up.
