I have had a couple chargers over the past 10 years. This one seems well built. It has a 50 amp start function for $40. It appears to be a great value after looking at a few other stores and online.
This is an excellent quality charger that will maintain the charge on a battery after charging it so you don't have to worry about unplugging it or that the battery will over charge. It also has a starter function is a bit small in capacity but might be just enough to start a small to med size auto. Overall very pleased with price and charger.

My old reliable charger, (Grandfather of this model, but 25 years old), finally died when I loaned it to a neighbor and they dropped it on a concrete floor. Hoping this one lasts even half that long! First use, I had a large-capacity battery for an older car with a very big, high-compression V-8 engine. The alternator died, so it was run down to nothing. This charger brought it to maximum full-charge in about an hour. I like the automatic shut-off when full charge is reached, and it also signals that with a bright green LED light. So I could tell from across the dimly-lit garage that it was done.
This compact but heavy weight charger can handle all of my battery maintenance needs ! It is small in size but delivers a big punch. It charged my dead lawnmower battery then jumpstaeted my pick up truck !
I always look to Sears for great products and I need a battery charger and that's why I went to Sear's. It is compact and very easy to use.

This is a very primitive charger with a 100%-analog circuit designed probably somewhere in early 70s. And they probably have not even updated its manual since that time (?Add distilled water to each cell...? ? Come on! Where can you find a non-sealed battery these days?). Its ?automatic? trickle-charge feature is so dumb and brutal it could easily fry a smaller battery. If you want to refresh some old memories associated with your grandpa?s garage equipment then buy it. Otherwise get a digitally controlled charger like Schumacher SSC-1000A. It will do a whole lot better job and cost less.
This charger replaced a 20-year-old unit that finally gave up. Only used once since purchase. During a record cold snap, car battery died in garage. a couple of minutes on the 10-amp setting and the car started right up. Didn't even need to resort to the 50-amp boost setting. Automatic, but basic. Does what it says.
