Nice Table
I ordered this table on Nov 11th and received it on the 13th. Very pleased with the fast shipping. Installation was easy, and the parts fit nicely. The cabinet's fit and finish was very good, and the table was nice and flat. Fence is solid, and I like the micro adjustment. Someone commented that the mounting plate was lower than the table. This can be adjusted with the leveling screws supplied, so it will be flush with the table. One of the reasons I purchased this table was because it has the above table height adjustment for my router(Craftsman 14 amp). I love this option. It also will accept other brands, such as Ridgid R2200, DeWalt DW618 Bosch 161EVS,MRF23EVS,PC 9690LR,690LR,7518,Milwaukee 5625-20. The only thing I did not like about this table, is the miter guage. It's a toy. Also the miter slot is not the standard size, so I will look for an after market miter. No big deal. All in all this seems to be a solid table at a decent price that has hugely upgraded my router capabilities. Now I have no excuses.

The surface is not flat!!!
There are depressions along the entire surface of this table. You can use a level to see them or just use your fingers to feel the variations. The router mounting plate sits almost 1/16" lower than the table! After assembling the table, I attached my Porter Cable router and used my matched Katana rail and stile set to make a few test cuts. When feeding a 20" long board through the router, the end dips down to the mounting plate, goes through the router at the height I need, then hits the other side of the mounting plate and raises up. The problem here is that the mounting plate does NOT sit level with the rest of the table. The table will not accommodate my ogee raised panel bit with a 3-1/8" diameter or my mitered door frame bit with a height of 2-1/2". The dust collection and micro adjustable fence work great for fine tuning and capturing most of the dust. This would be a great product if it had a perfectly flat table top.

GOOD FOR PRICE, READ INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE ASSEMBLY

Everyone who is complaining thinks they should get a perfect router table. YES you can get one, but they are 2000$ and up! However, if you want something better than the 50-150$ tables with the molded plastic sides (legs) then this is a very good solution. The table is flat, large, and has many adjustments. Once you get it assembled and adjusted, this is a very solid and very sturdy table. I bolted mine down to a heavy workbench and its very good. Is it perfect? NO. Is it excellent for 250$? Absolutely and that is the context that I purchased/and am writing this review in. I am not comparing it to a 2000$ table with incra fence and mitre gauge. Seriously, if you buy and dont like it sears will take it back, but don't act like they took advantage of you. WHich brings up second point. READ INSTRUCTIONS. Don't assume you are so smart that you don't need to (then complain about the assembly or table not flat). You can always go to woodworking store and get the 2500-5000$ table all assembled and delivered. This is a 250$ table and is very good for a 250$ table. Thank you

It is Level

I am very pleased with this unit and the base that goes with it. It is producing very nice work. The router mounting plate, as it comes from the factory is about 1/16 lower than the rest of the table. BUT there are adjustment screws in each corner, near the mounting screws, that can be used to make it perfectly level. Which I did.

Its a router table

Well, I read the reviews prior to purchasing the table. I assumed that the casting process for the table top would be flat. The table went together easy and solid. The fence has nice features. I have the Craftsman " professional " 2.5hp router mounted to it, which is a decent router. Now to the table top.. The top seams flat enough to make even cuts on passes. The drop-in plate was adjusted flush using a level to span the entire top. I used a jig to make dovetails. The jig kept catching on the surface during cutting. After looking closer and using a carpenters square, the surface is high on the edges and dips in the middle. Also is quite wavy throughout the tables surface. I emailed Craftsman with the issue with out a response. So, I had to fix the issue on my own. I used a sheet of MDF, sprayed glue to the surface and applied sheets of sand paper. Laying the table surface on the sand paper, I basicly sanded the table moving it back and forth. FYI, it is a crazy workout. I started with 60 grit and progressed to 100, 220, 400, 600. I did it with the drop-in plate as well. After all the hard work, it is now a flat surface. The sanding showed how uneven the surface was. If you want a router table with a flat surface, this is not the one for you. Unless you have the time to make it flat. I am sure there is an easier way of flattening the surface. Other then the table surface (which is the most important part) I think it is a nice table with the features it has. The switch is in a comfortable place. It will not accommodate horizontal raised panel bits. A vertical raised panel bit is an alternative. I love the table after the work.

Great Buy!!

This router table turned out to be much better than expected. I wasn?t very impressed with most of the tables within my budget, and I had planned on building a router table, but I needed it now and didn?t have time. You can?t beat this table for the money. It took me about twenty minutes to assemble, and another half hour or so to get it dialed in. I also bought the Craftsman 14 amp, 2.5 hp router to go with it. From the very first cut I was amazed what an awesome tool this is, and a great addition to my workshop. The only drawback that I have found is that I have to completely remove the router from the table to change bits, but other than that this was a solid buy.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Not As Advertised... But It Works...

Purchased On 1 / 11 / 14 And Got The Optional Base. Upon Opening The Box To The Table, I noticed there was quite a bit of glue squeeze out from the cheep edge banding. most of which stained the melamine grey. ( gum off worked well ) As I assembled the unit, i noticed the reverse thread screw inserts easily tore out as i put on the bottom ( last step ) and required me to epoxy them back in place. ( the included screws are slightly to long and forced them out of the hole making a 1/4'' gap all around, drill them 1/2'' deeper and epoxy the insert in place. # The Edge banding joint was uneven and looks like a dirty handed worker hand applied it, IN THE FRONT OF THE UNIT. Severely disappointed as it is unsightly. After assembling the table, i started on the base. the base was much better quality than the MDF on the table. No Stripping of the inserts or gaps. the slight lip on the top edge also 99% covered the unsightly edge band in the front of the table, A+ for the base. I then joined the 2 units together and hit the foot lock wheels. solid. peeled the stickers off the table, and went to square the top with the insert. Upon hitting the top with a steel rule, i noticed it is indeed VERY VERY uneven. 5 Thousands my Buttocks. The infeed is at least 1/4'' off the rest of the table near the far right of the edge, and the insert itself is not flat. I figured that there was no way it would route a straight line, so i tested it after squaring the best i could abut i couldn't visually see irregularities. Overall: C- Likes: Sturdy Base # Not Included # Included Accessories Removable Safety Guard For Small Close Cuts Micro adjust fence Dislikes: Cheep MDF # Fuzzes Like Cardboard When Drilled # Poor Finish Poor Edge banding FALSE Advertising Of Flat Surface Screws Longer Than Inserts Accommodate Overpriced For The Quality...

Point of information to Matt's Criticism

The mounting plate has four leveling screws located next to the mounting screws. If you loosen the mounting screws you can then raise or lower the mounting plate so that it is level with the table using the leveling screws. This is explained in the Owners Manual. I find this router table to be excellent. I recently purchased one and am very satisfied. I also purchased the base and that has made it even easier to use and I especially like that it is on wheels with two locking wheels.

Practical Router Table

I purchased this model recently to replace an older craftsman metal stand mounted router which took up too much space in my shop and was very cumbersome to move around. This table top router sustem suits me just fine as it is practical and conducive to my wood working operations.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

new replacement for my older craftsman table

I have had the older craftsman router table for 17 years and thought it was time to hand it down to my sons and get me a new one. I was satisfied with the won I had so I will stick with craftsman good quality and not to big for my small shop but still big enough to do all my work

Outstanding Value

Built in router lift. Largest table top on the market for this class of router table. All metal top. Fantastic fence that does not hang up when adjusting. Built in Micro-Fence Adjuster. Great slot slides. The router holder had four screws to insure it is perfectly flat. Just lay a Level across the center and adjust the four corner screws on the router holder plate and it will come out perfect. So, yes the table is FLAT. It is a FANTASTIC VALUE. Fits my Porter Cable and Craftsman Routers. And, the table conforms to MY standards, I'm Happy. Try it, if you don't like it--TAKE it back and get your money back. BTY, Have YOU PRICED a ROUTER LIFT, that alone is over $500 for a decent one, then get yourself a Fes.Tool. table another $500+.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Very poor construction

I bought this table and the base cabinet. The first two pieces I tried to join according to the directions sent me to the hardware store for real fasteners. The "junk" suppied with these products is worthless. The directions are also pitiful. I finally got it all together, but it's loose and I cannot tighten it because the fasteners will strip. I'm sorry I bought it. Craftsman used to have a good name in my father's day, but apparently it has really gone downhill.
