Almost anyone can drive a golf ball, but it's a good putting game that separates the average duffer from the skilled golfer. Take the next step in your game by constructing your own yard golf hole.
Difficulty
1. Cut plywood to size.
You can use the entire sheet of plywood or cut it to suit your own design. For example, we kept the length but cut at 36" for a narrower run.
2. Attach two 2x4s to the underside of the plywood.
Place two 2x4s so that they rest upright and place the plywood on top. Starting at 1" or 2" from the end opposite of the hole, secure the 2x4s lengthwise to the underside of the plywood using 2" wood screws. Space the screws 16" apart.
3. Lay and staple carpet.
Lay the carpet on top of the plywood so that it runs down the sides of the 2x4 frame and staple it to the frame.
4. Cut the ball hole and attach the ball container.
Cut a 4 ½" diameter hole using a jigsaw. Fold carpet into hole and place the plastic golf cup hole inside.
5. Attach timbers to the top of the carpeted plywood.
Attach two of the landscape timbers lengthwise to the top of the carpeted plywood with 3 ½" wood screws. Start at 1" or 2" from the end opposite of the hole and space the screws 16" apart.
6. Attach timber to the front of the run.
Cut the third landscape timber to fit the back of the plywood and secure it using wood screws. The remainder of the landscape timber can be used to create different obstacles and angles for your hole.
